Marvel Cinematic Universe fans are eager to learn what’s next for Elizabeth Olsen as the Scarlet Witch following Doctor Strange 2. The film provided many new developments for her character, and Wanda’s popularity among the fandom is stronger than ever. And although her fate is up in the air, there’s a strong possibility that the Scarlet Witch could team up with the X-Men next.

Wanda seemingly died in ‘Doctor Strange 2’

Following her acquisition of the Darkhold in WandaVision, the Scarlet Witch officially became a villain. The evil book of spells fed on her anger and grief, forcing her to do whatever it took to find her boys, Billy and Tommy. Wanda discovered they existed on Earth-838, so she set out to track down America Chavez and steal her power to travel between universes in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

While running from Wanda, America found herself with the MCU’s Doctor Strange, who swore to protect her. And the Scarlet Witch didn’t like that one bit. She attacked Kamar-Taj and killed anyone who got in her way. Doctor Strange and America eventually escaped to Earth-838, but Wanda wasn’t too far behind. She used the Darkhold to dream-walk on that Earth, and she killed almost every Illuminati member to get to America.

At the end of Doctor Strange 2, America forced the Scarlet Witch to see the error in her ways. Wanda recognized that her opening of the Darkhold allowed evil to permeate her mind. So she destroyed every copy of the book in the multiverse. And in doing so, she brought down Mount Wundagore, seemingly killing herself.

Elizabeth Olsen discusses the Scarlet Witch’s future, which may include the X-Men

During an interview with Independent, Elizabeth Olsen teased her future as the Scarlet Witch in the MCU.

The actor revealed, “I don’t know how big the plans actually are, but I’m down for anything as long as there’s a good idea attached to it.”

According to the publication, some of the ideas Olsen is open to are a Scarlet Witch solo film or something involving the X-Men. Specifically, Olsen said she’s “curious” about how the MCU will incorporate the X-Men after Disney bought 20th Century Fox and subsequentially the rights to the mutant characters.

The actor also told CinemaBlend, “I don’t really know what I do next after this movie. I don’t really know. I want to know what fans want and what the ideas are. But I guess you just said it — if we’re bringing X-Men back, I’ll want to be there. But I have no actual plans yet. I am very excited to talk with [Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige] about that at some point.”

It’s unclear what Marvel’s plans are for the X-Men, but whatever they may be, it’s clear that the Scarlet Witch should be involved in some capacity.

Elizabeth Olsen wants to say a famous Scarlet Witch quote in an ‘X-Men’ film

Prior to the Doctor Strange 2 premiere, Elizabeth Olsen discussed the possibility of the Scarlet Witch’s involvement in a future MCU X-Men story.

HeyUGuys asked the actor if she wanted to say one of Wanda’s famous lines from the comics books — “No more mutants” — in a movie.

“Yes, I mean, I hope so,” Olsen shared. “I’m excited for all the crossovers in the future. I do think [Doctor Strange 2] opens up lots of opportunities with the multiverse. But yeah, the immortal words are [‘no more mutants’]. I mean … I would love to be able to say them in some capacity to make it work for the MCU.”

She added, “Again, I never know what we’re doing next, so I’m always just kind of like in these interviews, just saying whatever sounds cool to me, as well. But yeah, it’s not in anyone’s control besides Kevin Feige.”

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is now playing in theaters.
