Dr. Frasier Crane is in the building again. Fans have long-awaited news of a Frasier reboot, and they are finally getting what they want. The famed sitcom will return to the small-screen on Paramount Plus sometime soon. Now that a reboot is in the works, fans can’t help but wonder if Dr. Crane will be lighting up the radio switchboard in Seattle or if the character will be in an entirely different city.

Kelsey Grammer will reprise his role as Dr. Frasier Crane

On the same day that Paramount+ announced the return of Frasier to its platform, it also revealed that at least one of the main cast members would be returning to the series. The initial announcement confirmed that Kelsey Grammer would be returning as Dr. Frasier Crane. The series promises to have everything fans loved about the original series.

The reboot does have one serious obstacle to grapple with. The show will need to go on without John Mahoney, the actor who portrayed Martin Crane for 11 seasons. Mahoney died in 2018 from throat cancer. The show will also need to go on without the dog who played Eddie. Moose died at the age of 16 in 2006. Fans are hoping the series will address Mahoney’s death.

Fans are wondering if a different location will be used for the reboot

The Frasier finale ended with Dr. Crane getting on a plane to follow his girlfriend to Chicago, leaving his family behind. The final scene has left some serious questions about where the reboot will be taking place. Could Frasier have started anew in Chicago? Or is it possible he headed back home to Seattle eventually? It seems equally likely that he could have traveled further east to Boston to be close to his son, Frederick, in the intervening years.

Setting the series in Seattle would ensure the show feels familiar, something that is required for reboots. The city became something of a character in and of itself, and it would feel strange to see Frasier in any other setting. A Seattle backdrop would also make it easier to pull in the former cast believably. Peri Gilpin reprising her role as Roz feels like a must, but the notion of her following Frasier to another city seems implausible. Right now, it doesn’t appear as though the team behind the series has made a decision just yet. At the very least, they haven’t made the decision public.

When will the Frasier reboot premiere?

The reboot of the beloved series is still in the early stages of planning. Right now, a team has been assembled to write new episodes. Still, the full official cast has not yet been finalized. Right now, the only person confirmed for the series is Grammer. Where the psychiatrist is living could dictate which characters will be returning and which will not.

Since the cast isn’t yet set, it is safe to assume that fans will need to wait a while to catch up with the radio doctor once again. The streaming service provided did not announce a premiere date. It seems unlikely that the show will premiere on Paramount+ before 2022. It certainly seems like it could be worth the wait, though.
