Have you ever wondered what it would be like if Wonder Woman star Gal Gadot played Batman instead of Ben Affleck or Robert Pattinson? Well, thanks to Gadot, you no longer have to imagine. For Batman Day 2021, Diana Prince’s portrayer showed fans what a superhero crossover between Wonder Woman and Batman would look like. And we have to admit, a movie starring Gadot about a hero who is half Wonder Woman, half Batman would not be the worst thing in the world.

Batman Day was on Sept. 18

Batman Day is an annual event created by Warner Bros. and DC Entertainment to celebrate Batman. Starting in 2014, the holiday was created to commemorate the 75th anniversary of Batman in comic books. The celebration was held on July 23 to coincide with San Diego Comic-Con. Since 2014, Batman Day has fallen on the third Saturday in September every year. This year, in 2021, DC Entertainment celebrated Batman Day with the release of Batman: The Audio Adventures on HBO Max. Plus, DC Comics released “Batman: The World,” an anthology book filled with numerous stories about the Dark Knight.

Batman isn’t the only DC superhero to have their own day. Superman Day is celebrated annually on June 12. In Cleveland, the hometown of Superman creators Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster, a bill declared June 12 a holiday dedicated to the Man of Steel.

There is a Batman Day and a Superman Day, so will there be a Wonder Woman Day? Well, 2021 marks the 80th anniversary of Wonder Woman in DC Comics, and Warner Bros. plans to celebrate the wondrous achievement. Wonder Woman Day is a multi-month event that started on International Women’s Day on March 8 and will culminate on Oct. 21.

Gal Gadot, in her Wonder Woman costume, posts a video of her in the Batman mask

Wonder Woman herself, aka Gal Gadot, decided to share her appreciation for her Justice League teammate in an Instagram video. Gadot uploaded the video on Sept. 18, aka Batman Day. The clip shows Gadot trying on what could be Ben Affleck’s Batman mask on the set of Justice League. Gadot is also in her Wonder Woman suit.

Per Entertainment Weekly, Gadot can be heard in the Instagram video saying, “It’s not that bad. Or my head is not that big.” Later on, someone says that Gadot looks like “Batman’s sister” in the mask. She captioned the post with “Bringing out my inner bat 🦇 Happy Batman day! #BatmanDay #Batmanday2021.”

Wonder Woman starred alongside Batman in the 2017 film ‘Justice League’

Wonder Woman, played by Gal Gadot, and Batman, played by Ben Affleck, star in the 2017 DC Extended Universe film Justice League. The movie is the DCEU’s version of The Avengers, but, unfortunately, Justice League did not measure up to its hype. It was a box office bomb, and it received mixed reviews from critics.

Fans worldwide started to petition for the release of Zack Snyder’s cut of the film. Snyder originally sat in the director’s seat for the film but left to deal with a personal loss. Joss Whedon took over directing responsibilities during post-production, which many fans believed was detrimental to the quality of the film. Eventually, in 2021, Warner Bros. released Zack Snyder’s Justice League on HBO Max. Critics overall deemed the new cut of the film an improvement from the original.

Thanks to Justice League‘s failures, Warner Bros. currently has no plans for a sequel. So, it’s unlikely that fans will see Wonder Woman and Batman fight alongside one another again in the DCEU. However, Warner Bros. is scheduled to release The Batman, starring Robert Pattinson, on March 4, 2022. This film has no ties to the DCEU, though. And Wonder Woman 3 is currently in development.
