Yellowstone has kept fans in the dark about what’s coming in season 4 for almost a year. But the Paramount Network is finally starting to share some hints about the highly-anticipated episodes. Thanks to the latest teaser, Yellowstone fans are convinced that somebody is dead after the explosive season 3 finale.

‘Yellowstone’ season 3 ended in August 2020

It’s been more than ten months since fans have seen a new episode of Yellowstone. The season 3 finale aired in August, and fans have been patiently waiting for the new season ever since.

In the season’s final moments, there was a coordinated attack against the Dutton family before the episode ended with a massive cliffhanger. Patriarch John Dutton (Kevin Costner) was helping a woman change a flat tire on the side of the road when an unknown assailant drove up and shot him.

At the same time, a bomb exploded in Beth’s (Kelly Reilly) office, and a group of masked, armed men were after Kayce Dutton (Luke Grimes) in his office.

Fans have been sharing their theories on social media

In the months since the episode aired, fans have been sharing their theories about who was behind the attacks and who they think survived. In the very first season 4 teaser that the Paramount Network released in early July, it was revealed that John does survive long enough for Rip Wheeler (Cole Hauser) to find him on the side of the road.

At the end of the teaser, Rip runs to the Dutton family patriarch and says, “John don’t you die on me now. Not like this, you hear me!”

The new ‘Yellowstone’ teaser has fans convinced somebody is dead

Not long after releasing the first one-minute teaser, Yellowstone’s Instagram page posted a new ten-second teaser that has fans convinced somebody is dead. The brief clip didn’t come out and say it, but the symbolism is impossible to miss.

The video features a major sign that death is coming — a crow. The bird flies around in a gray, ominous sky before landing on the Yellowstone Ranch’s “Y” logo. As the crow caws, the words “Revenge is worth the wait” appear on the screen.

Will all 3 Duttons survive?

Despite the dark foreshadowing, most fans are hopeful that all three Duttons will survive. It seems almost impossible that they would kill off any of those characters. Instead, the season 3 finale was the perfect setup for the Duttons — and Rip Wheeler — to go on a vengeful rampage.

The big question is who the target will be. All three attacks were different, but yet appeared to be coordinated due to the timing.

There’s no guarantee that one single threat was responsible, but it seems pretty clear to many fans that members of the Market Equities were behind the ambush. Especially since Yellowstone has announced that a new character named Jackie Weaver — the CEO of Market Equities — will be part of season 4.

Kevin Costner is ‘ready’ for the premiere of ‘Yellowstone’ season 4

Yellowstone didn’t get its usual June premiere this season, and is instead “coming this fall.” Fans weren’t thrilled with the news that the season had been delayed, but they were excited to see Costner comment on both teaser posts on Instagram.

Costner made the exact same comment on both season 4 teaser posts. He simply wrote, “I’m ready.” It appears that the actor is not only ready for the Yellowstone premiere, but he’s also ready for John Dutton to get his revenge.

Seasons 1 through 3 of Yellowstone are available on Peacock. Season 4 is “coming this fall” to the Paramount Network.
