‘Yellowstone’ Spinoff: How Can Fans Watch ‘6666’?

‘Yellowstone’ creator Taylor Sheridan is expanding his universe at Paramount. The first spinoff ‘Y: 1883’ is actually a prequal about the Dutton family. His second spinoff, ‘6666,’ will head to Texas and be based on the real Four Sixes Ranch. When and how will ‘Yellowstone’ fans be able to watch the prequal and the spinoff?

The Yellowstone universe is expanding with not one, but two spinoffs. In addition to the prequel ‘Y: 1883’, there will also be 6666. How can fans watch the second spinoff, and when will it premiere? Here’s everything we know so far about 6666.

The first ‘Yellowstone’ spinoff is an origin story

Fans of Yellowstone know all about John Dutton (Kevin Costner) and the Dutton Yellowstone Ranch – the biggest ranch in the United States. But how exactly does one build such an empire? That’s exactly what fans will find out in the new prequel Y:1883.

The first spinoff, or prequel, is an origin story about how the Dutton family came to procure all of the land that is the Yellowstone ranch in the present day.

In the only clip released so far — released mid-Super Bowl — an unknown voice says, “I don’t care if you live or die. But should you live… you tell them about me.”

‘6666’ isn’t about the Duttons

In the second spinoff, the Yellowstone universe will expand by heading to Texas. Instead of the Dutton Yellowstone Ranch, this sequel will be focused on the famous Four Sixes Ranch.

“Still operating as it did two centuries before, and encompassing an entire county, the 6666 is where the rule of law and the laws of nature merge in a place where the most dangerous thing one does is the next thing,” the series description reads.

It goes on to say that the 6666 is “synonymous with the merciless endeavor to raise the finest horses and livestock in the world, and ultimately where world-class cowboys are made.”

Neither ‘Yellowstone’ sequel will air on The Paramount Network

During its first three seasons, Yellowstone has become so popular that it’s the number-one rated series on cable. The western was the first major series to be produced by the Paramount Network after their Spike TV rebrand. And, it will remain on Paramount for season 4.

However, according to Express, the sequels will have a different home. Both Y:1883 and 6666 will exclusively be part of the Paramount+ streaming platform, which itself is a rebrand of CBS All Access.

CBS launched Paramount+ on March 4, but they have not yet revealed the premiere dates for the Yellowstone sequels.  The expectation is that Y:1883 will premiere sometime in 2021. The sequel 6666 will most likely not arrive until 2022.

How to watch ‘6666’

Paramount+ – formerly known as CBS All Access – is the new streaming home for all of the networks under the ViacomCBS umbrella. This includes CBS, BET, Comedy Central, MTV, Nickelodeon, and of course, the Paramount Network.

In addition to network shows, the platform will also feature new original content like Y:1883 and 6666. The price for the service is $5.99 per month with limited commercials. Or, you can watch everything ad-free for $9.99 per month.

Who will star in the new ‘Yellowstone’ spinoff?

Since Y:1883 is set way back in the 19th century, there will obviously not be any familiar faces in the prequel. But what about 6666 – will there be anyone from Yellowstone heading south to the new spinoff?

So far, Paramount has not revealed any casting news. However, multiple reports claim that Ryan Bingham and Jefferson White will reprise their roles as ranch hands Walker and Jimmy Hurdstrom.

Yellowstone creator Taylor Sheridan hasn’t shared any casting news, either. However, he did say in a video posted on Twitter, “I was always fascinated when I came up with the story of Yellowstone about how do we make it bigger and expand it.”

Season 4 of Yellowstone is expected to premiere on Paramount in June 2021. Seasons 1 through 3 are available on Peacock.
