‘Yellowstone’ Star Cole Hauser Talks Women Mobbing Him in Public — ‘It Can Get a Little Strange’

Cole Hauser has become synonymous with his Yellowstone character Rip Wheeler, despite his plethora of previous acting credits. Many Yellowstone fans choose Rip as their favorite character in the show. Although Hauser appreciates the fact that the show has become so popular, he has had some slightly odd run-ins with fans.

Many fans’ favorite ‘Yellowstone’ character is Rip Wheeler

The first season of Yellowstone revealed that Rip Wheeler has been with the Duttons since he was a teenager. John Dutton found Rip following an extremely violent encounter. Rip killed his father after realizing that his father murdered his mother and brother. John then took Rip in, and Rip has repaid him with hard work and loyalty ever since.

On one Reddit thread discussing fans’ favorite Yellowstone characters, many fans chose Rip as their number one. “Rip, hands down! I liked him from the beginning, but fell in love with his character after learning about his back story,” one Reddit user wrote. “I have to go with rip as well. Such a beautifully dynamic character,” another said.

Cole Hauser recalls interesting incidents with ‘Yellowstone’ fans

Hauser has to deal with getting swarmed by fans at times, and the interactions can be a little odd. On one occasion, he and Taylor Sheridan attended a Texas rodeo. “All I can say is thank God for the Fort Worth Police,” the actor told Outsider.

“Not to sound like an a**hole, but I felt a little bit like Elvis. Women—especially after they’ve had a few drinks… Well, it can get a little strange.” Cole Hauser even recalled meeting a woman who had named her baby after his Yellowstone character.

“I was sitting at the rodeo, and this woman comes up to me with her brand-new baby—and she says to me, ‘This is Rip,’” Hauser said. “I’d seen a couple of crazy girls tattoo him on their arms, but this was something else. Taylor and I just looked at each other. We both felt honored. I mean, that was pretty cool.”

Hauser is certainly grateful for the devoted fan base surrounding Yellowstone. That fan base seems to have only grown since the show first aired. “One of the coolest things is that places like California, New York, and Hollywood are catching on,” Hauser told Outsider. “I don’t know why they didn’t seem to care for the first few years.”

Where else have fans seen Cole Hauser?

Although Cole Hauser’s Yellowstone role has made him pretty famous, it’s far from his first acting credit. According to IMDb, Hauser previously appeared in TV shows such as High Incident, Chase, and Rogue. One of his earliest movie roles came when he portrayed Benny in Richard Linklater’s cult classic Dazed and Confused. Some of his other credits include Tigerland and 2 Fast 2 Furious.

Yellowstone has been renewed for season 5 and is anticipated to air sometime this summer. Fans can’t get enough of Hauser and thankfully he will be back for more.

All episodes of Yellowstone are currently streaming on Peacock.
