Kim Kardashian Reveals Her Secret for Getting Rid of Pregnancy Weight Fast

Losing baby weight can be tough. But somehow, Kim Kardashian managed to shed 70 pounds and look even better than before her pregnancies. Since Kim and Kanye just welcomed their third bundle of joy via surrogate, Kim won’t have to worry about shedding pounds and getting back into shape. However, you can still learn some valuable lessons from her past pregnancies.

1. The Atkins Diet

Kim’s weight-loss plan involved both diet and exercise. She told People that she followed the Atkins 40 diet following Saint’s birth. The Atkins 40 program is different than the original Atkins plan (now called Atkins 20) because dieters start with 40 grams of net carbohydrates a day. According to the Atkins website, net carbs equal the total carbohydrate content minus the fiber content and sugar alcohols (if present). The net carbs number represents the grams of carbohydrates that most affect your blood sugar level.

Kim also said in her interview with People she once thought losing weight only required regular exercise. However, she quickly learned that what you eat is just as important as how much you exercise. The soon-to-be mother of three said during the time she was trying to shed pounds, she lowered her daily calorie intake to 1,800 calories and ate a healthy diet that included plenty of fish and turkey.

3. Cheat days

If you’ve ever been on a diet, you know how hard it can be to eat healthy every single day. There comes a point where you feel so deprived you’re likely to binge. That’s why it’s important to incorporate one or two meals each week where you can have a treat. That’s exactly what Kim did during her diet. She said she allowed herself to occasionally have trail mix with M&M’s and peanuts so she wouldn’t feel deprived.

4. Regular exercise

Kim told Entertainment Tonight that she made sure to wake up at 6 a.m. daily so she could squeeze in a workout. She knows that although diet is important, working out must be part of the equation. Kim kept her fans abreast of her weight-loss journey by posting some of her workout routines on Snapchat. Her exercise regimen included a mix of early morning runs, boxing, strength-training, and sprints.

5. Protein

Protein is an important part of any diet. Kim’s nutritionist told Redbook that Kim made sure to eat protein with every meal. This helped her stay full and not feel like she was starving herself. This is good, considering the fact that research has revealed that people who consume the daily recommended amount of protein lose more weight than those who don’t get enough.

6. Help from personal chefs

When you’re busy with kids and work, it can be difficult to stick to your diet. One way Kim stayed on top of it was to utilize the help of her personal chefs. Cosmopolitan reported she had Atkins-trained chefs cook and deliver her meals. We’re guessing you don’t have a personal chef. If that’s the case, your next best option is to plan meals in advance and set aside one day where you cook a few meals and then freeze the leftovers. This way, you won’t have to worry about what to cook when you get home.

7. Ab tightening

As you’ve probably guessed, Kim didn’t just rely on diet and exercise to look flawless after having two babies. Surgical procedures are a poorly kept Hollywood secret. One of her tools for getting a slim figure was to get a tummy tuck. The only thing that was different about this tummy tuck is the fact that it uses a non-surgical method for reducing the appearance of belly fat.

8. Still have a baby belly?

Do you still have a belly bulge, months or even years after you’ve given birth to your baby? If you’ve been sticking to a healthy diet and exercise routine, it’s possible you could have a medical reason for the extra bulge. One possibility is a condition called diastasis recti, also known as abdominal separation. It can make you look about four to five months pregnant even years after you’ve had a baby.
