Meet TLC’s newest stars! Jasmine – aka Jaz – and Nesha are sharing their story in 1000-lb Roomies, the network’s latest addition to its 1000-lb franchise (after 1000-lb Sisters and 1000-lb Best Friends). It premieres Tuesday, June 3.

Jaz and Nesha are roommates and each other’s ride-or-die. When Jaz’s doctor tells her that her life is at risk if she doesn’t lose weight soon, the pair realize it’s time to make a change. Jaz, who has a 10-year-old daughter, is committed to losing nearly 200 pounds so that she can continue to be there for her child. But Nesha isn’t sold on the idea of weight-loss surgery. Together, the friends must navigate new boundaries and old habits if they want to really change their lives.

Jaz is a single mom from Southern California

Jaz, 41, is a single mom and video creator from Riverside, California. In an interview with People, she said she’d long struggled with her weight. At one point weighed nearly 700 pounds. While she’ll be sharing more of her weight-loss journey on her new show, she’s already dropped some hints about what’s in store on social media. Last year, she underwent a social media makeover, ditching her old account for new online presence.

“Many if not all of you met BigFatFineJaz. Y’all got to know her and what she was about,” she wrote in the August 2024 Instagram update. “And while I enjoyed you all falling in love with her, all good things must come to an end. But don’t be sad because as the sun sets on something great, it gives the opportunity for the sun to rise on something new and amazing.”

Now, she’s excited to share her story with TLC viewers.

“Honestly, I’m truly thankful for this opportunity and taking you guys along on this journey with us. I appreciate you,” she wrote on Instagram ahead of the show’s premiere.

Nesha is a makeup artist

Nesha’s Instagram bio describes herself as a makeup artist and model. The 37-year-old also a foodie who shares recipes and posts reviews of local restaurants on her YouTube channel. In an update shared after the show was announced, she admitted that she can’t quite believe she’s going to be on TV.

“I woke up this morning forgetting the entire world about to know allllll my business lol hahahhaha,” she wrote. “I’m so grateful for the opportunity @tlc thank you sooooo much. 1000lb Roomies yalll.”

While appearing on TV means opening herself up to criticism, she hope it also encourages her in her weight-loss journey.

“It’s accountability with a hint of added pressure basically,” she told People. “But I’m excited because I feel like, from the outside looking in, we all judge each other. And to be able to share my story on such a large platform, I feel like it’s just such a blessing.”

1000-lb Roomies airs Tuesdays at 10 p.m. ET/PT on TLC.
