‘1000-lb Sisters’ Family Feud Explodes After Amy Says She Has Camel-Related PTSD and Tammy Accuses Her of Being a ‘Deadbeat Mom’
Tammy and Amy Slaton are at each other’s throats.
In the January 20 episode of 1000-lb Sisters, the siblings’ simmering anger toward each other erupts in a bitter text message battle.
Tammy – who has been remaking her life following her stunning weight loss – recently landed her first “real job” as a volunteer at an animal shelter. She’s asked her sister Amy to come help her care for the animals. But when Amy snubs the invitation, Tammy fires back with some nasty comments.
Amy Slaton claims she has PTSD after camel bite
In a clip shared by TLC on Instagram, Tammy and Amy’s siblings Chris Combs and Misty Wentworth discuss an explosive conversation in the family group chat.
“Tammy and Amy got into over text message,” Chris explains to a producer. “Amy backed out of going to the animal shelter because she has PTSD over the damn camel bite. And Tammy lost her sh*t.”
In 2024, Amy was involved in a headline-making incident at a Tennessee safari park where she claimed she was bitten by a camel. Police got involved, leading to her and her then-boyfriend Brian Scott Lovvorn’s arrest on drug charges. (Amy and Brian tied the knot in October 2025.)
Highlights from Tammy and Amy’s conversation are shown in the teaser. In the first message, Amy says she “woke up with a panic attack about getting bit by an alpaca” and asks what animals will be at the shelter.
“I really can’t be around big animals,” she adds. “I got PTSD from the camel.”
Tammy lashes out at Amy in next episode of ‘1000-lb Sisters’
Tammy senses that Amy is intending to back out of volunteering.
“Then b*tch, if you don’t wanna go to the animal shelter then don’t f*cking go. Grow up,” she replies, complaining that Amy can got to “a pet store and get 12 cats” but won’t go to the shelter facility “where everything’s in cages.”
Amy gets defensive, saying pets are different than large animals are arguing that she doesn’t ask Tammy to do things that “hurt” her.
That claim sets Tammy off.
“Hold on b*tch hold on hold the f*ck up b*tch,” she writes. “You’re not forcing me to do anything? I don’t wanna go to your f*cking wedding.”
A major storyline on this season of 1000-lb Sisters involves Amy’s efforts to plan her wedding to Brian. Amy wants to say “I do” in a haunted location, but her family – including Tammy – have objected to that spooky plan for religious reasons. The disagreement has prompted Amy to ask a friend, rather than Tammy, to be her maid of honor.
Tammy then hits Amy with a deeply personal insult.
“You’re a f*cking deadbeat mom,” she writes. She adds another redacted barb before declaring, “I’m done with you b*tch.”
1000-lb Sisters airs Tuesdays at 9 p.m. ET/PT on TLC. Episodes stream on HBO Max.
