Whitney Purvis is under suicide watch at the Georgia jail where she’s currently being held after being arrested for involuntary manslaughter.

The 16 and Pregnant alum was medically designated and committed after she made suicidal comments, TMZ reports. A law enforcement insider also said that she was undergoing a drug detox while behind bars at the Floyd County Jail.

Purvis was arrested on July 7. She is accused of providing “tranq” – a mix of fentanyl and xylazine – to a man named John Mark Harris earlier this year, allegedly leading to his fatal overdose.

Following Harris’ death, Purvis left a lengthy comment on his online obituary

“I hate that I found out what happened today and missed your funeral. I wish I could’ve found out sooner and attended your celebration of life. thank you for being such a great friend to me and always making me feel beautiful and cared for,” she wrote. “You’ve came to my rescue on many occasions and saved me over the years.”

Purvis’ arrest came a month after the death of her son, Weston Gosa Jr. Purvis was pregnant with Weston Jr. during her 2009 appearance on the MTV reality series. The 16-year-old was living with his father, Weston Gosa, at the time of his death.

In an interview with People, Purvis said she was struggling following her son’s unexpected death.

“When I’m not crying, I’m just staring at the ceiling,” she said. “I never wanted to go through something like this. I mean, I know no one does, but you never think it’ll happen to you, and I just can’t even imagine a future now. I can’t imagine going on after this.”
