5 Must-Watch Shows on Netflix in August 2025
Summer is winding down, but Netflix is keeping things hot with its slate of upcoming releases for August 2025. Subscribers can binge movies like Clueless, The Departed, Jurassic Park, and Dazed and Confused when they join the streamer’s library on August 1. And while Netflix’s own list of original new releases isn’t as long as in some months, there are still some major highlights, including the much-anticipated return of Wednesday and a new season of guilty-pleasure reality show Perfect Match.

‘Perfect Match’ Season 3
Looking to fill the Love Island-sized hole in your heart? The third season of Netflix’s hit reality dating series Perfect Match might do the trick. Single stars from some of your favorite reality shows (including Love Is Blind, Love Island, The Ultimatum, The Bachelor, and Too Hot to Handle) shack up together in a tropical paradise, where they compete to find love and earn the title of “perfect match.”
Perfect Match Season 3 premieres August 1. New episodes release on Fridays through August 15.
‘Wednesday’ Season 2
Everyone’s favorite goth anti-heroine Wednesday Addams (Jenna Ortega) finally returns to Netflix for the second season of her hit show this month. In Wednesday Season 2, Ortega’s character heads back to Nevermore Academy to confront fresh foes and woes. She’ll have to navigate family, friends, and old adversaries while also finding herself plunged into a bone-chilling mystery. Notable guest stars this season include Lady Gaga, Christopher Lloyd, Fred Armisen, and Haley Joel Osment.
Wednesday Season 2 Part 1 (Episodes 1-4) premieres Wednesday, August 6. Part 2 (Episodes 5-8) premieres Wednesday, September 3.
‘America’s Team: The Gambler and His Cowboys’
Just in time for the kickoff the 2025-26 NFL season, Netflix is rolling out a new docuseries about the league’s most famous team: the Dallas Cowboys. America’s Team: The Gambler and His Cowboys explores how Jerry Jones shaped the modern NFL and built the most valuable sports franchise in the world.
America’s Team: The Gambler and His Cowboys premieres August 19.
‘Hostage’
Expect to be on the edge of your seat when you binge Hostage, Netflix’s new political thriller about the kidnapping of the British Prime Minister’s (Suranne Jones) husband. The incident takes place during the French president’s (Julie Delpy) visit to the U.K., and both women face unimaginable dilemmas as they navigate choices that will affect their personal and political futures.
Hostage premieres August 21.
‘My Life With the Walter Boys’ Season 2
The next chapter of soapy YA drama My Life With the Walter Boys drops on Netflix this month. In season 2, Jackie (Nikki Rodriguez) returns to Colorado after spending the summer in Manhattan. She wants to mend her relationship with Alex (Ashby Gentry) and set boundaries with Cole (Noah LaLonde). But fitting back in in Silver Falls will be harder than she anticipated.
