Milania Giudice grew up in front of Bravo’s cameras. A previous season of The Real Housewives of New Jersey even focused on her college decision. While the 20-year-old has spent the last couple of years in Florida for school, things are not going well. She has made headlines in recent months for an arrest and erratic behavior, with fans raising concerns about her mental health. Let’s take a look back at what has been happening over the last few months.
May 14: An arrest at the family home
The first sign of serious trouble came in May, when Milania was arrested in Montville Township, New Jersey. According to reports, Milania was taken from the home of her mother and stepfather after a domestic dispute turned violent. Police reports indicated that Milania was throwing food and candles at the property.
Gabriella Giudice, Milania’s older sister, was the person who placed the 911 call. Milania was charged with one count of assault. In released body cam footage, Milania appeared to act erratically, smiling and laughing as she was driven away from the family home. She later took to social media after news of her arrest broke to insist she “ate down” in her mugshot photo. Milania later acknowledged she had not been in a good place when the incident happened.
July: Milania Giudice loses her best friend in a tragic accident
On July 14, Milania appeared virtually before the Montville Township Municipal Court and entered a not guilty plea. During the hearing, the judge read the charge aloud, alleging she struck the victim, identified only by the initials “LR,” in the head with her fist, causing redness to the forehead. The case is ongoing.
July brought more upheaval and sadness into Milania’s life. After her court appearance, Milania’s longtime friend, Victoria Zardoya, died after an accidental fall at the Fort Dade Ruins. Victoria, a New Jersey native who grew up on the same street as Milania, was visiting friends in Tampa at the time of her death.
September 23: A mental health crisis makes headlines
Milania and her family paid tribute to Victoria in July, and things more or less quieted down. Still, Bravo fans were concerned about Milania’s mental health after they noticed erratic behavior in her social media uploads. As it turns out, they had a right to be concerned. In early September, the Giudice family dealt with another death, and then, on September 23, reports of Milania acting out surfaced again.
According to reports, Milania was traveling with her mother, Teresa, her older sister Gia, and a counselor when she walked away from the group at the Tampa-area airport. Police were called to help locate Milania. A police dispatch log obtained by TMZ indicated she had recently been released from St. Anthony’s Hospital and that officers were told she was experiencing a mental health crisis, including suicidal thoughts. Officers found her a short time later in a parking lot.
Milania’s representative, Marina DeSantis, said Milania is surrounded by people who love her and is under the care of professionals who are working with her and her family. DeSantis connected her struggles to the devastating loss of her best friend, Victoria, and said the family’s focus is on her health, healing, and well-being.
Joe Giudice also spoke publicly, telling Page Six that grief does not have a timeline and that his priority is making sure his daughter knows she is loved and supported.
