Aaron Rodgers surprised fans recently when he told reporters at Pittsburgh Steelers minicamp that he’s married and has been for “a couple months.” The news was a shock to his family as well, and now they’re questioning whether the NFL star really did tie the knot.

The athlete‘s admission about marrying a woman named Brittani, who has stayed completely out of the spotlight, came after he was spotted with a black ring that resembled a wedding band on his left hand when he signed a contract with his new team in May.

So why does his family have their doubts? Here’s more on that, and what public records show about Rodgers’ marital status.

Rodgers’ family isn’t convinced he married a mystery woman no one knows anything about

Rodgers has been estranged from his family for several years. His private family matters became public knowledge in 2016 when his younger brother, Jordan, was a contestant on Season 12 of The Bachelorette.

“Me and Aaron don’t really have that much of a relationship,” Jordan said at the time, adding, “It’s just kind of the way he’s chosen to do life, and I chose to stay close with my family and my parents and my brother [Luke].”

Following Jordan’s revelation, the quarterback shared with WISN what he thought about his sibling airing out their dirty laundry on television saying: “As far as those kinds of things go, I’ve always found that it’s a little inappropriate to talk publicly about some family matters, so I’m just — I’m not going to speak on those things.”

Well, according to the Daily Mail, Jordan has spoken out again about his brother as insiders revealed that “Jordan and (his wife) JoJo [Fletcher] didn’t go to the wedding and [say they] don’t even know anything really about Brittani.”

Sources added that the family is “unconvinced” that Rodgers really did get married.

There are no public records that Rodgers is legally married to anyone

Rodgers first mentioned that he was dating someone named Brittani in December 2024 during an appearance on The Pat McAfee Show. But his family was so “caught off guard” by the news he got married, they’re now questioning its authenticity.

Sources say the family suspects that the football player may have had a symbolic “commitment ceremony” instead of a legally binding wedding. That’s because there is “no trace of a legal marriage” via public records.

The Daily Mail noted that a clerk in the Pennsylvania county where Rodgers is believed to currently reside said no such marriage involving the Steelers quarterback has been registered.

Some have speculated that “Brittani” is model Brittani Kline. But it doesn’t seem like Rodgers is going to confirm or deny that.

He’s been a lot quieter about his love life after a few high-profile romances and seems content now with keeping Brittani’s identity a mystery.

Rodgers previously had lengthy relationships with Olivia Munn and Danica Patrick, and was also engaged to Shailene Woodley.
