Amanda Bynes Resurfaces on Social Media to Share ‘Inspiring’ Update: ‘Lost 28 Lbs on Ozempic!’
Amanda Bynes is celebrating a big win.
On Tuesday, the former Nickelodeon star took to social media to post a rare paparazzi photo of herself. In the image, a casually dressed Bynes strolls down a street wearing a Lady Gaga shirt and ripped jeans.
Former Nickelodeon star doesn’t like paparazzi photos of herself
“I usually don’t like paparazzi pictures because I was 180lbs,” Bynes wrote on the snap shared on her Instagram Story. “But now I’ve lost 28lbs on Ozempic!”
The What I Like About You star went on to say that she now weighed 152 pounds.
“I know I still look big but this photo is really inspiring to me!”
Bynes has previously opened up about her desire to lose weight. In June, the 39-year-old shared that she planned to try a GLP-1 to shed some pounds.
“Oh, I’m going on Ozempic. So excited. I’m 173 now so I hope to get down to like 130, which would be awesome so I look better in paparazzi pictures,” she said in an Instagram video (via Just Jared). “I will post about my Ozempic journey of course.”
Amanda Bynes has opened up about body image issues
Bynes – who has publicly struggled with her mental health over the years – has previously opened up about how being in the public eye from a young age affected her self-esteem and body image. In a 2018 interview with Paper, she recalled faking ADHD symptoms in order to get an Adderall prescription after she heard the drug described as the “new skinny pill.”
In 2010, while filming Hall Pass while using Adderall, she caught a glimpse of herself on a monitor and panicked. Bynes said she recalls “seeing my image on the screen and literally tripping out and thinking my arm looked so fat because it was in the foreground or whatever and I remember rushing off set and thinking, Oh my god, I look so bad.”
Bynes ended up pulling out of the movie, in part due to dissatisfaction with her appearance. She was similarly disappointed in the way she looked in the film Easy A. Soon after, she stepped away from acting. She spiraled into drug use and was in a conservatorship from 2013 to 2022.
While her conservatorship has ended, Bynes has continued to share about her struggles with weight, mental health, and her feelings about her appearance. In March 2024, she wrote on Instagram that she’d gained “over 20 pounds … from being depressed.”
“I’m doing a lot better now,” she added (via People) “and have learned to do opposite action when I don’t feel like working out or eating clean.”
