Amy Sherman-Palladino Says She’d Like to Get Back in Lauren Graham’s Face on a Daily Basis
Gilmore Girls originally aired from 2000 to 2007, and while the series was a moderate success during its original run, it has grown in popularity each year since it went off the air. It remains one of the top-streamed series on Netflix and is also performing well on both Hulu and Disney+. Fans love returning to Stars Hollow again and again in the form of rewatches. Still, they aren’t against the idea of getting another revival. In fact, fans have been clamoring for it for years. Each time Amy Sherman-Palladino speaks on the topic, it feels like we are getting a little bit closer. Her recent words on the topic are giving us some hope.
Amy Sherman-Palladino wants to work with Lauren Graham again
In the year since filming Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life premiered on Netflix, the cast and crew have been asked about potentially filming more revivals numerous times. There were a few moments of false hope and a couple of periods when everyone was too busy to even entertain the idea. Still, throughout everything, the cast and the show’s creator have been steadfast in their love of Stars Hollow and their desire to return once again.

That day might be getting closer. During a recent interview with Us Weekly, Gilmore Girls creator Amy Sherman‑Palladino said that while she was happy with the end of Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life, there is always room for more. At the very least, she’d like to reconnect with Lauren Graham. Sherman-Palladino quipped that she wants to “get back in Lauren Graham’s face on a daily basis.” Whether that would be with Graham as Lorelai Gilmore or someone completely new for a new series remains to be seen. Sherman-Palladino noted that she was bummed when Graham was too busy working to appear in Etoile. Etoile, her most recent but now defunct series, was canceled after just one season. Still, fans feel confident the duo would work together on more Gilmore Girls before a new series.
Lauren Graham is always open to the idea
Amy Sherman-Palladino isn’t the only person interested in reconnecting. Lauren Graham has always made it clear that she is interested in returning as Lorelai Gilmore, in any way Sherman-Palladino wants. Graham reprised the role in a Walmart commercial last Christmas, and she’s been open about being interested in doing a Christmas special. During an appearance on The Drew Barrymore Show, she said she’s been dreaming up a Gilmore Girls Christmas special. She said she’d like to see the residents of Stars Hollow take a page from British TV’s book.
She also spoke about Gilmore Girls during an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. When asked if she would reprise the role, she affirmed, “Yes! I always say yes. Graham revealed that the series was the best job she ever had. Other cast members have expressed their interest in returning, too. Frankly, the only important character who hasn’t said they’d be interested in reprising their role is Alexis Bledel. Still, she’s never said she wouldn’t be interested, either.
