Amy Slaton From ‘1000-lb Sisters’ Denies BFF Lee Lee Davis Is a ‘Clout Chaser’
Ollisha ‘Lee Lee’ Davis is a true friend, Amy Slaton-Halterman says.
TLC viewers met Amy’s BFF when the 1000-lb Sisters star asked her to take on maid of honor duties for her wedding to Brian Lovvorn. Amy turned to Lee Lee after a falling out with her family, including her sister, Tammy Slaton, over her plans to get hitched at a haunted location.
“Selecting bridesmaids and groomsmen proved to be a profound challenge,” Amy told People after she tied the knot last Halloween. “Yet I intuitively knew that my extraordinary friend Ollisha [Davis] (Lee Lee) would graciously accept the esteemed honor of being my maid of honor, even before I extended the heartfelt invitation.”
Amy Slaton says Lee Lee is ‘a genuinely good friend’
While Amy was thrilled she had a friend to rely on as she prepared to say “I do,” some fans wondered whether Lee Lee was there for Amy or there for the fame. Amy says it’s the former.
“Some of y’all think Lee Lee a clout chaser,” she wrote in a February 17 post on Instagram. “But let’s clear something up — there’s a big difference between clout chasing and being a genuinely good friend.”
Amy went on to say that Lee Lee was “a real friend” who supported her even when the cameras weren’t watching.
“Some people see posts and assume motives,” she added. “What they don’t see is the late-night calls, the real-life support, the tears, the laughs, and the consistency that doesn’t make social media.”
“Lee Lee ain’t chasing clout,” the TLC star wrote. “Lee Lee a real friend — she a true ride or die.”
How did Amy and Lee Lee become friends?
In January, Amy shared a poem, “Amy’s Tears.” that Lee Lee had written for her.
“Thank you for writing this poem for me!!” Amy wrote. “I love you, girl, on camera, off camera, and everything in between!! This poem means a lot!! It means you get me when no one else does!! Ollisha Davis.”
In 1000-lb Sisters, Lee Lee is presented as a new friend of Amy’s. That’s prompted some viewers to wonder about her motives for appearing on the show. But Lee Lee’s connections with Amy and her family might be stronger than they appear. Reddit sleuths found evidence that she has been friends with Amy’s sister Amanda for years. It’s possible that the show has decided to have Lee Lee play the role of a new friend in order to step up the drama surrounding Amy’s wedding.
