Anderson Cooper and his signature giggle are back for another New Year’s Eve celebration. For the ninth consecutive year, the CNN anchor will team up with Bravo’s Andy Cohen to co-host CNN’s New Year’s Eve Live with Anderson Cooper and Andy Cohen live from Times Square in New York City.

Anderson Cooper and Andy Cohen have never dated

Cooper and Cohen are longtime friends who met back in the 1990s when someone they both knew tried to set them up on a blind date. But the date never happened, as there was zero romantic spark between the pair, both admitted.

Cohen told EW that Cooper found him “too enthusiastic,” while Cooper suspected Cohen was more interested in his connections to the Vanderbilt family than in him as a person. But they eventually became close friends thank to group vacations with shared friends. Years later, they’re still in each others lives. Meanwhile, both have become dads. Cooper has two boys, Wyatt and Sebastian, while Cohen has a son named Benjamin and daughter named Lucy.

Anderson Cooper has an ‘unusual setup’ with his former partner

Cooper prefers to keep the spotlight away from his romantic life. He’s never married and is currently single. However, he is raising his two sons with his former partner, Benjamin Maisani. The two dated for more than a decade before they split up in 2018. But even though they are no longer romantically involved, they are still close. In fact, both their kids were born via surrogate after they broke up.

“It’s probably an unusual setup, but I knew he would be a great dad, and he is,” Cooper told People in 2021. “We’re exes, but we’re family to each other, and we love each other as family and as co-parents.”

Not only are Cooper and his ex co-parents, but they actually still live together.

“We’re family and we love these kids,” Cooper told Howard Stern in 2023 of his unconventional arrangement. But he admitted that his lack of a romantic life made living with his former boyfriend easier.

“I’m not dating … I’ve got two kids,” he said. “I’m happy right now.” He went on to politely decline Stern’s offer to set him up with someone.

“When straight people try to set gay people up, it rarely works,” he said.
