Lisa Vanderpump’s time with the Real Housewives is over, according to Andy Cohen.

The Bravo producer was a guest on the latest episode of Carlos King’s Reality With the King podcast, where he discussed his new book Andy’s Bravo Scrapbook: Twenty Years Behind the Scenes of the Real Housewives and the Bravoverse.

During their chat, King asked Cohen if he thought Vanderpump would ever return to The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. The OG cast member left the show in 2019 after nine seasons.

“Is there a world where you think she would ever come back?” King asked.

“I don’t think so,” Cohen replied, adding that he’d “love it” if she did reclaim her diamond.

Other Housewives have returned to Bravo after a long absence. Carole Radziwill recently rejoined The Real Housewives of New York City  eight years after she first left the show. And Cynthia Bailey from The Real Housewives of Atlanta recently came back in a reduced capacity after leaving in 2021.

“Cynthia really redefined the Friend role,” Cohen said.

But Vanderpump – who still appears on Bravo’s Vanderpump Rules, as well as her new show, Lisa Las Vegas – is unlikely to want to jump back into RHOBH’s messy dynamics, Cohen said.

“Do I think Lisa Vanderpump is going to come back as a ‘Friend of [The Housewives]? I don’t see it,” he said.

Why Lisa Vanderpump left ‘Real Housewives’

Vanderpump left RHOBH after the show’s ninth season. Much of the season’s conflict revolved around Dorit Kemsley’s adoption of a dog from Vanderpump’s animal rescue, Vanderpump Dogs. According to Kemsley, the dog, named Lucy Lucy Apple Juice, had behavioral problems. She rehomed the animal, and the second owner later relinquished the dog to a shelter that euthanizes animals. (Lucy Lucy Apple Juice was eventually adopted by another owner.)

Once the dog drama – dubbed PuppyGate – became public knowledge, other cast members turned on Vanderpump, accusing her of leaking details about Kemsley’s failed dog adoption to the press in order to smear her. Vanderpump denied those allegations.

PuppyGate led to the end of Vanderpump’s friendship with co-star Kyle Richards and her exit from the show. She even skipped the season 9 reunion.

“The objective of the reunion is to reunite, right? And I have no inclination to reunite with the women who’ve been harassing me for 10 months now,” she told DailyMailTV at the time.

Cohen opened up to King about what it was like to have one of RHOBH’s core cast members sit out the reunion.

“We knew the day before [that she wasn’t coming]. Um, you know, you always kind of hold out hope,” he said. “She was just done. When you show up to the reunion, you have to be willing to either meet someone halfway or at least have the conversation. And I think she was so over it and offended and felt that there was nowhere to go.

“It also seemed crazy because we were all, you know, we were all thinking, ‘Wow, well, I guess that means she’s not coming back.’ … We had a stacked cast at the time, but she was such a centerpiece of that show in a in a cast of centerpieces.”
