Anne Hathaway Appears to Address Post-Oscars Speculation About Her Look
Anne Hathaway made a notable return to the stage for the Oscars in 2026. The actress walked the red carpet in a gorgeous strapless floral Valentino gown and presented an award alongside Anna Wintour. And fans can’t wait to see Hathaway reprise her role as Andrea Sachs in The Devil Wears Prada sequel. While Hathaway looked beautiful and fresh-faced at the Academy Awards, rumors of cosmetic surgery swirled following her appearance. And she subtly appeared to shut down any speculation with an Instagram post.
Anne Hathaway appeared to shut down speculation surrounding her look after the Oscars in 2026
Anna Hathaway had a commanding appearance at the Oscars in 2026. The 43-year-old actress appeared onstage to present Best Costume Design and Best Makeup and Hairstyling. While Hathaway keeps her personal life out of the media, fans couldn’t help but notice how fresh and youthful she looked, prompting conversation surrounding cosmetic surgery.
Hathaway didn’t outright confirm or deny whether she’s had surgery to retain a certain look. However, she seemed to subtly shut down any surgery speculation with an Instagram video. On March 16, 2026, she posted a clip of her getting ready for the Academy Awards with the help of her hairstylist, Orlando Pita, her makeup artist, Hun Vanngo, and her facialist, Gavin McLeod-Valentine.
The clip showed Hathaway’s glam team taking care of her nails, hair, and makeup as she sat still in a chair ahead of the event. Finally, she revealed the secret to a 30-second facelift. “Alright, drum roll please,” Hathaway said from her chair. Her hairstylist then revealed how he incorporated small braids by her temples to pull back and lift her face naturally. Pita then finished styling her hair so that the braids were not visible.
“And you look a little bit more awake,” Hathaway concluded. “That’s the trick.”
Anne Hathaway discussed plastic surgery in the past
While Anne Hathaway hasn’t addressed cosmetic surgery speculation recently, she discussed the subject in the mid-2000s and in her 40s. She once admitted to wanting surgery on her nose, as she didn’t believe it was good enough.
“When I was growing up, I wanted a nose job, because I didn’t think my nose was good,” she said, per the Daily Mail via Yahoo. “Your face needs to have character if you’re going to be an actor, or you’re just kind of a face.”
The actress also retains her youthful glow by staying out of the sun. “I even carry an umbrella if I walk in the sunshine and use spray tan if I need to look as if I’ve been sunbathing,” she once told The Sun in 2012.
Not only that, but Hathaway sticks to a healthy diet. While she was once strictly vegan, she’s since branched out to include fish and other animal products, which have boosted her energy.
Years later, Hathaway was asked about her stance on plastic surgery in her 40s, and her response appeared to soften.
“It’s strange to comment on a sentence from 15 years ago,” she said in an interview with Vogue France in 2024, according to the Hindustan Times. “I know who the young woman was who said that, I know why she said it, but today, she seems unbearable and moralizing to me. As for my opinion on this subject, I would say that asking people about surgery is a bit like asking them if they have sex: It’s an extremely intimate question.”
