A$AP Rocky Might’ve Dropped Clue That He and Rihanna Won’t Spend Christmas in Barbados
In 2025, Rihanna and A$AP Rocky turned the spotlight from stage to family, celebrating the arrival of their first daughter, Rocki Irish Mayers, born on Sept. 13. The happy news, announced via Instagram, added a soft new chapter to their public‑facing lives. Now, fans want to know what the stylish couple has planned for the holidays. While they live in Beverly Hills, Rihanna is famously from Barbados. However, Rocky might’ve dropped a clue that they don’t plan to have an island holiday.
A$AP Rocky says he wants a ‘white Christmas,’ which could mean he and Rihanna aren’t heading to Barbados
Rihanna and A$AP Rocky have had an exciting year, as they welcomed their daughter, Rocki Irish Mayers, into the world. Now, just two months later, they’re gearing up to celebrate the holidays. Rocky spoke to E! News at the 2025 Gotham Film Awards, and while he didn’t say exactly where he and Rihanna planned to celebrate this year, he might’ve given a clue about their location.
“I’m looking forward to a white Christmas with snow and some chestnuts roasting,” Rocky exclusively shared with the publication. “Logs in the fireplace — stuff like that.”
If the rapper is serious, we doubt he and Rihanna are headed to Barbados. The tropical island nation rarely falls below 70 degrees Fahrenheit. And if Barbados gets any precipitation, it’s rain. That said, it also sounds like Rocky and Rihanna might not be staying in Beverly Hills for Christmas if Rocky wants to see cold weather, since it’s too warm to see snow in December. Perhaps the couple will take their three kids on a winter vacation to make Christmas more festive.
Ultimately, it seems he doesn’t care all that much about where he celebrates the holidays as long as his family is there. And he could be completely joking about desiring a white Christmas. “Togetherness — all joking aside,” he said of his top priority. “I think just being together, that’s enough. That’s enough to ask for, and it’s a dream come true, you know, be with your family, and just watch them grow, and just listen to old records playing on vinyl and stuff.”
Rihanna and A$AP Rocky spent Christmas in Barbados in the past
Rihanna’s bond with Barbados remains deeply personal and public. She recently marked the island’s 59th Independence Day (and its fourth year as a republic) by sharing intimate family photos on Instagram, celebrating home and honoring national leaders while offering fans a rare glimpse of life on the island.
A proud Barbadian who has served as an official ambassador and was later named a national hero, Rihanna frequently returns for cultural moments and family time. And she famously brought A$AP Rocky home for Christmas in 2020 — not long after they started dating in 2019. The couple was photographed holding hands as they boarded a Catamaran sunset cruise with friends and family on Christmas Eve.
“Rihanna has been in Barbados since [last] Thursday,” a source told People at the time. “A$AP joined her, and they are spending Christmas together with Rihanna’s family.”
Could the couple spend the holidays in New York?
A$AP Rocky could still get a white Christmas if he and Rihanna spend the holidays in New York.
The rapper grew up in Harlem, New York, and navigated a childhood marked by financial instability and periods in shelters. Amid these challenges, his relationship with his mother, Tanya Mayers, remained a cornerstone of his life. Rocky has often credited her guidance and support for keeping him grounded while he pursued a music career. He also maintains a connection with his siblings, whom he has mentioned in interviews as an important part of his life and support system, even though he keeps much of his family life private.
Fans will have to wait and see whether Rocky and Rihanna take their three kids to the East Coast or have a warm Christmas instead.
