Nick Viall and Natalie Joy’s world centers around their daughter, River Rose, born Feb. 2, 2024, and named in honor of Natalie’s great-grandmother and niece. At just over a year old, the little girl has become the heart of their family. And The Bachelor alum and his wife have been excited at the prospect of having more children. Sadly, Nick announced on the Aug. 14, 2025, episode of The Viall Files that Natalie was currently recovering from her third miscarriage this year.

“As you can see, Natalie is not with us,” Nick said on The Viall Files podcast. “There’s no really good way to say it, it f***ing sucks. She’s obviously at home resting and healing, both physically and emotionally.”

Nick noted that this marked a “scary time” for him and Natalie, as they already had two miscarriages in 2025. Now, he and Natalie are “running tests” to get a better idea of what’s going on.

“It’s far less normal to have two or three back-to-back,” the podcaster continued. “Now, we’re in that very scary process of running tests and finding out more about ourselves. It’s this weird thing of like, you want them to find something, but you don’t want them to find something.”

Nick noted that Natalie can form a “unique” and “immediate” bond when pregnant, making her feel “alone” in the tragedy of the miscarriage. “For the dads out there, you’re trying to strike this balance between grieving yourself, but also just keeping life together and keeping the family going,” he continued. Nick also mentioned how Natalie’s first pregnancy with River was “fairly easy.”

Natalie Joy said her 2nd miscarriage was the ‘biggest heartbreak’ of her life

Nick Viall and Natalie Joy previously reflected on Natalie’s second miscarriage, which she had in January 2025.

“It has been the biggest heartbreak of my life,” Natalie said on The Viall Files‘ Jan. 29, 2025, episode. “I’ve never experienced something where I feel so empty inside.”

She told her Bachelor husband that she felt “dead inside” as she actively miscarried. She also expressed the guilt she felt for feeling this way while around Nick and their daughter.

“It sucks because I have to be so alive for River,” Natalie continued. “I have to be silly and goofy and funny and play with her. Then, I have this overwhelming guilt that when I’m with you, I can’t also do that. I’m sad that the only version you get right now is this broken person.”

Natalie noted that this marked the “hardest night” of her entire life, as she was “so mad” at her body.

‘The Bachelor’ fans feel for the couple’s loss

Bachelor Nation fans have been divided about Nick Viall and Natalie Joy’s relationship. However, when it comes to miscarriage, fans are united in feeling sympathy for the couple’s loss.

“Oh wow, that’s so terrible,” one fan wrote on Reddit. “I feel for Natalie and hope she has support through this.”

“So heartbreakingly sad … prayers of love and comfort to Nick and Natalie in the days and weeks ahead,” another fan commented.

“This is sad,” another fan wrote. “Luckily, she is still young enough to take a break and let her body heal … hopefully they can get to the bottom of what’s causing the miscarriages. I know the trauma from it all has to be stressful.”
