Kylie Jenner is in the media more than ever in 2026. While her relationship with Timothée Chalamet continues to garner attention, it’s her spring Vanity Fair cover that has everyone talking. Jenner strikes a provocative pose while smoking a cigarette in the cover shoot — and her eyebrows are noticeably bleached. So, are bleached brows making a comeback this year? Here’s what a beauty expert said about achieving the look and why fans should “proceed with caution.”

A beauty expert warns the public to ‘proceed with caution’ if they want bleached brows like Kylie Jenner

Bleached eyebrows continue to make a fashion statement in 2026. Now that Kylie Jenner is making bleached brows more approachable with her spring Vanity Fair cover, her fans are likely to want to get the same look. Annabelle Taurua, Beauty Expert at Fresha, warns fans to “proceed with caution” when bleaching their eyebrows. This is particularly true if they’re doing the look themselves.

“If you’re considering trying bleached brows yourself, the most important tip is to proceed with caution and ideally visit a professional,” Taurua said. “The skin around the brows is delicate and very close to the eyes, so using strong hair bleach or leaving products on too long can cause irritation or uneven color.”

Taurua says that those bleaching their brows should use products specifically designed for facial hair. And they should perform a patch test beforehand while monitoring the timing. “For people with darker brows, the process may also need to be done gradually to lift the color safely without damaging the hair,” she continued.

Beauty expert Annabelle Taurua warned of these common mistakes

Annabelle Taurua listed several common mistakes that are often made when bleaching eyebrows. She warned against going too light too fast, as this can leave the brows with an orange hue.

“One of the most common mistakes people make is trying to achieve an ultra-light blonde result in a single session,” she said. “If you have naturally dark brows, lifting them too quickly can cause the hairs to develop warm or orange tones instead of the soft, almost invisible finish often seen in fashion editorials. In many cases, achieving the right shade requires a gradual process rather than one round of bleach.”

She also warned against using the wrong products, as they can leave the skin around the eyes irritated.

“Another mistake is using standard hair bleach rather than products formulated for facial hair,” she stated. “The skin around the eyebrows is delicate and close to the eyes, so using harsh formulas can cause irritation or uneven color. Choosing gentler products and performing a patch test beforehand can help avoid unnecessary damage.”

Those with bleached brows should also prepare to change their makeup.

“Once brows are bleached, the face can look very different,” Taurua noted. “Without darker brows anchoring the features, some people feel their complexion appears washed out. Adjusting your makeup, for example, by adding definition with eyeliner, mascara, blush, or contour, helps restore balance and structure to the face.”

Kylie Jenner has likely faked bleached brows before

Did Kylie Jenner really bleach her eyebrows for Vanity Fair? It’s unclear whether she committed to the look with full-on bleach or whether she used a concealer hack. Glamour reported that Jenner showed off bleached brows on Instagram in January 2023. Before this, she also rocked the look in 2022. Brow expert Joey Healy told the publication that celebrities often fake bleached eyebrows using makeup.

“You can use your concealer, so it kind of looks like your skin tone, and a mascara wand,” he noted.

That said, Jenner has discussed actually bleaching her brows for a Vogue campaign in the past.

“I just had to do this campaign shoot, and they wanted bleached brows, so Ariel [Tejada], I think, just left the bleach on for too long and my eyebrows fell off,” the reality star admitted. “So now I’m just trying to get them back.”
