Becky G and Sebastian Lletget met in 2016. The singer’s Power Rangers co-star, Naomi Scott, introduced them, as Scott’s husband, Jordan Spence, was Lletget’s former teammate.
“They kept playing cupid, and they didn’t tell either one of us who we were or what we did because they didn’t want us to fall under the pressure of, ‘Oh, superstar dating athlete! Oh, perfect match made in heaven,’ because they knew who we were as people,” Becky told PopSugar.
At the time, Becky G made it known that she wasn’t looking for love.
“I was like, ‘Nah, I don’t want to be with anybody. I’ve been there, done that (with) the relationship thing. I’m focused right now. I’m good,’” she said in an interview with Mega 96.3 LA.
However, she later decided to make the first move and initiate contact with Lletget. “I followed him on Twitter and he followed me back, and I remember it was like this ghost-y, ‘I know you exist, you know I exist,’ thing,” she told PopSugar. “I waited a couple days after my 19th birthday just to sound older, which is so funny to me now … he was like 23 at the time. So I slid in the DM real hard, and I was like, ‘Hi, what’s up?’”
The two then became friends, as she was living in Vancouver and he lived in Los Angeles. However, by May 2016, they made their romance Instagram official.
The couple got engaged in 2022
Becky G and Sebastian Lletget made their first public appearance as a couple in 2016. By 2017, they were gushing about each other online. In June of that year, they posted about their first anniversary as a couple. Then, in 2018, Becky G told Entertainment Tonight that she considered Lletget her “partner in life” and “best friend.”
“He’s never looked at me like, ‘Oh, babe! Oh, no, I’m jealous! You can’t do that!’ He’s more like, ‘You go girl! You better work it!'” she said. “Because I think he knows that it means something to me, it really does mean something to me.”
In July 2020, Becky released the song “My Man” about Lletget. And they continued to bond through the coronavirus (COVID-19) quarantine.
Finally, in December 2022, the couple announced their engagement on Instagram. “Our spot forever,” they captioned the post.
Sebastian Lletget commented on his cheating scandal in 2023
Becky G and Sebastian Lletget worked to weather a cheating scandal shortly after they announced their engagement. In 2023, an anonymous woman on the internet said she had photographic and video evidence that Lletget was unfaithful to Becky.
“Sebastian, your boyfriend, cheated on you in February and I have all the proof,” the post read. “I can send them to you privately. A lot of the press is contacting me because I will not remain silent.”
In March 2023, Lletget released a statement on Instagram. According to People, he noted that he had a “10-minute lapse in judgment” that led to an “extortion plot.”
“To Becky, you have been the light in my life, my strength, who has always shown me unconditional love,” Lletget wrote. “Instead of honoring that love every day, I have done the opposite, hurting you, and disrespecting the one person I love more than anything. I am so sorry and know I have to do whatever it takes to earn back the trust and love you deserve.”
“Over the last several weeks, during a moment I regret deeply, a 10-minute lapse in judgment resulted in an extortion plot,” he continued. “Since this person did not get what they wanted it has now become a public social media spectacle filled with more lies than any truth and false posts aimed at the love of my life, the one person I should never take for granted or put at risk. While this anonymous stalker — who I never met, unlike they claimed — had an ultimate goal that was not clear, for me, it has been a wake-up call. The loudest alarm of my life.”
In Becky’s 2025 documentary, Rebbeca, she opened up about the cheating scandal.
“The hardest part is my silence was confused for weakness,” she said, according to People. “There’s no words that would make it better … only actions.”
She didn’t confirm her relationship status at the time. However, she gave a clue.
“I also believe that the people who are meant to be in your life aren’t the ones who leave, aren’t the ones who stay — they’re the ones who grow with you,” she said.

Becky G spoke about her relationship with Sebastian Lletget on the Call Her Daddy podcast in 2026, following the cheating scandal. She noted that she and Lletget were still together. They went through “conscious uncoupling” to rebuild trust.
“I think that whole like, ‘It’ll never be the same again,’ something about that was actually exciting,” she said. “Like, ‘Oh, there can be something new, and it’s like, ‘Oh, I’m not the same version of myself that I was when I was 19 when you first met me. You are not the same person that you were at [23] when I first met you.’ It’s just this earned wisdom, I guess you can say.”
“There’s a private heartbreak that’s taking place, and then there’s a public heartbreak that’s taking place, and both are extremely painful,” she added. “But what was the hardest part for me to navigate through was giving myself that space and grace and make that decision for myself.”
