In March 2025, Kanye “Ye” West sparked widespread outrage with a series of offensive remarks about Beyoncé Knowles-Carter and Jay-Z’s children. In a now-deleted post on X, he used derogatory language to question the cognitive abilities of their 7-year-old twins, Rumi and Sir. He also made inappropriate comments about artificial insemination. After deleting the post, West claimed he did so to avoid X deleting his account. Now, Beyoncé might be clapping back at West after bringing Rumi Carter onstage during her “Cowboy Carter” tour.

Beyoncé might’ve clapped back at Kanye ‘Ye’ West by bringing Rumi Carter onstage during the ‘Cowboy Carter’ tour

During the opening night of Beyoncé’s “Cowboy Carter” tour on April 28, 2025, her 7-year-old daughter, Rumi Carter, made a rare and heartwarming appearance on stage. Rumi joined her mother and older sister, Blue Ivy, during the performance of “Protector.” She wore a sparkling gold feathered dress by Oscar de la Renta,

The song features Rumi’s voice at the beginning, asking, “Mom, can I hear the lullaby, please?” As Beyoncé sang, Rumi walked on stage, hugged her mother, and waved to the audience, creating an emotional moment for fans. This appearance was part of a special family celebration, as the concert also honored Beyoncé’s mother, Tina Knowles. Knowles’ memoir, Matriarch, had recently topped The New York Times Best Seller list.

Fans don’t often see Beyoncé’s twins, Rumi and Sir Carter. Kanye “Ye” West commented on this on X. The rapper claimed Beyoncé and Jay-Z don’t show off their twins because the kids have developmental problems. Beyoncé and Jay-Z never directly commented on West’s X attack. However, Beyoncé bringing Rumi onstage to join her and Blue Ivy serves as enough of a clap back at West for his offensive comments.

Beyoncé singing “Protector” with Blue Ivy Carter dancing behind her and Rumi Carter excitedly hugging her was a highlight for many fans. Many of Beyoncé’s followers remember her two pregnancies. Now, Blue Ivy is all grown up and learning her mother’s choreography. Rumi also seemed to love the stage, and fans expect to see a lot more of her as she ages.

A fan on Reddit noted that they don’t get the “same uneasy feeling with Beyoncé’s kids” as they do with other celebrity children in the limelight. “It feels like what the kids are and aren’t allowed to do is very measured, and that there are strong boundaries in place,” the fan observed. “Blue seems incredibly mature for her age; I think she’s being taught the right way. … The only way they are unsafe is the world can just talk s*** about them online … well, that was going to be the case whatever they do, so they might as well enjoy themselves.”

“This was cute, Rumi looked so excited lol!” another fan commented. “I’m sure people will be up in arms about it, but she was there for the end of the song, and then she left.”

After Kanye “Ye” West’s derogatory comments regarding Rumi and Sir Carter, Beyoncé and Jay-Z allegedly considered taking legal action against the rapper.

“Jay-Z and Beyoncé are aware of the posts Kanye has since deleted and are discussing how they want to handle this situation, whether that be privately and/or in a legal matter,” an insider shared with Page Six.

West apologized for the X post and elaborated on his complicated relationship with Jay-Z.

“I love Jay-Z and I do feel bad,” West wrote in a now-deleted X post. “I always felt like the black sheep like I wanted family in this music s***. I’d run on stages thinking I was doing the right thing and would always be a slight hov [sic] not coming to my first wedding him putting Kendrick on the Super Bowl over me or even us never being being invited to s***, taking jabs about my red hat on Donda, I felt like both him and his wife could have helped me have more leverage with my kids ….”
