Bianca Censori’s Past Career and Her Guest Critic Gig at Columbia
For someone best known for traversing the globe barely dressed and making headline-grabbing appearances alongside her husband, Kanye West, Bianca Censori’s most recent public outing was shockingly different. The architect, designer, and performance artist appeared at one of the country’s most prestigious universities this week as a guest critic. She was fully dressed and fully credentialed for the job. Let’s take a look back at her career before Kanye, and how Bianca Censori ended up as a guest critic at Columbia.
Bianca Censori makes an appearance at Columbia
Bianca Censori served as a guest critic at Columbia University’s Graduate School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation, where she participated in a final review session for students enrolled in the Advanced Studio IV program. According to the school, guest critics are typically invited to offer independent perspectives on student designs and provide feedback alongside faculty members. Censori was one of several credentialed designers who participated in the semester-end critique.
While Censori is known for leaving very little to the imagination, she suited up in a completely professional outfit for this particular New York City outing. She arrived at the prestigious campus wearing a high-neck top, a knee-length skirt, and leather boots. The polished, crisp look aligned perfectly with the professional setting. Photos from inside the event, obtained by TMZ, showed Censori looking serious and engaged.
Her Career Before Kanye
Bianca Censori’s appearance at Columbia might come as a shock, but when you think about it, it makes perfect sense. What is often lost in the noise surrounding Censori and Kanye’s public stunts is how decidedly normal her pre-Ye life was. Bianca Censori was born in Melbourne, Australia, and had a fairly traditional upbringing. She went on to earn both a bachelor’s and a master’s degree in architecture from the University of Melbourne. Censori trained at DP Toscano Architects, a firm based in Collingwood, Victoria, before moving stateside.
After working in the architecture field for several years in Australia, Censori joined Yeezy, West’s clothing and apparel company. She joined the team as a designer. Censori relocated to California for the role. She and West married in a private ceremony in December 2022, shortly after his divorce from Kim Kardashian was finalized. The marriage has been a tumultuous one, and her career as an architect has all but been forgotten, at least by the public.
She hasn’t forgotten it, though. Her architectural background was on display at an exhibition in Seoul last year. West was on hand for that event. Censori appears to have attended the Columbia event without the famed and very controversial rapper. We will have to wait and see if the two turn up together in New York City following her visit.
