What Is the Billionaire Bunker? Inside the Exclusive Neighborhood Linked to Mark Zuckerberg
Mark Zuckerberg’s real estate portfolio has grown far beyond the modest home he first bought near his company’s Silicon Valley headquarters. Zuckerberg and his wife, Priscilla Chan, spent over a decade assembling a compound of adjacent homes in Palo Alto, California. They also own luxury estates in Lake Tahoe and Hawaii, including a massive ranch with hundreds of acres dedicated to privacy and conservation. Most recently, the Meta CEO made headlines with a record-setting $170 million purchase in Indian Creek Village in Miami’s “Billionaire Bunker.” So, what is this exclusive gated community? Here’s what to know.
What is the Billionaire Bunker in Miami? Mark Zuckerberg just bought a mansion there
Mark Zuckerberg and his wife, Priscilla Chan, officially own a home in Miami’s Indian Creek Village, better known as the Billionaire Bunker. According to NBC 6 South Florida, Indian Creek Village is a 300-acre barrier island in Biscayne Bay. And huge names in sports and entertainment live there.
According to Paul George, Historian for the History of Miami Museum, the Billionaire Bunker originated during the 1920s real estate boom. And it didn’t become a municipality until 1939. George noted that the style resembles that of the Italian-Mediterranean community. Today, it has 41 platted waterfront residential homes, a country club, and a golf course for its wealthy residents.
George told NBC 6 that the centerpiece of the Billionaire Bunker is its 18-hole golf course and a clubhouse. “That becomes the first of everything there,” he claimed.
According to News.am Style, the island has its own police force that patrols the island by land and sea all day and night. The island is connected to the mainland by a single guarded bridge. And all visitors to the area must present valid identification and allow for possible vehicle inspection. This allows for complete privacy. And residents who hope to play golf on the 18-hole course must reportedly pay a $500,000 initiation fee as part of the intense approval process.
The Meta Platforms CEO is now neighbors with other high-profile individuals
Mark Zuckerberg and Priscilla Chan will have numerous high-profile neighbors to hang out with in the Billionaire Bunker. According to NBC 6 South Florida, NFL legend Tom Brady moved to Indian Creek with then-wife Gisele Bündchen and their kids in 2020. Julio Iglesias is reportedly another Indian Creek resident, as he reportedly bought his home in 1979. Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner also bought their home in 2021, which was previously owned by Iglesias.
According to People, Zuckerberg and his wife closed on a $170 million property in the area in March 2026. Celebrity cosmetic surgeon Dr. Aaron Rollins and his wife, real-estate agent Marine Rollins, reportedly sold the home to Zuckerberg. The couple initially bought the two acres of land that the home sits on for over $30 million in 2020. They then designed and built the mansion. The listing initially asked for $200 million for the house.
The publication notes that plans for the 30,000 square-foot home are not yet complete. But it will feature a gym, hair salon, massage room, a library with a secret passageway, a party room, and a 1,500-gallon aquarium upon completion. The home will also have a private heated pool, a garden, and private water access via a dock with 200 feet of waterfront.
