Andy Cohen is speaking out about the shocking arrest of The Real Housewives of Potomac star Dr. Wendy Osefo and her husband, Eddie Osefo.

The Bravo stars were taken into custody on October 9 in Westminster, Maryland. They have been charged with felony insurance fraud related to a burglary they reported to police in April 2024.

Cohen says that he was as shocked as everyone else to learn that the RHOP cast members were facing serious legal problems.

“I want to say that like all of you, I found out about the charges against Wendy and Eddie Osefo on Friday morning and there’s not much that I can say,” Cohen said on the October 13 episode of SiriusXM’s Andy Cohen Live. “I know nothing of the charges more than you guys do, than what I’ve read.

The Osefos claim they returned home from a vacation in Jamaica to find that someone had broken into their home and stolen jewelry and handbags worth hundreds of thousands of dollars. But police say that an investigation into the alleged crime revealed inconsistencies in the couple’s story, including a photo shared on social media that showed Wendy wearing a ring she said had been stolen.

The investigation also found evidence that some of the supposedly stolen items had actually been returned for refunds prior to the theft. When police raided the home earlier in October, they found more than a dozen items that the Osefos had reported as stolen. What motivated the crime? The police have a theory, noting that the couple was “burdened by substantial debt.”

Andy Cohen hopes charges against ‘RHOP’ star are a ‘big nothing.’

Cohen said the crimes Wendy has been accused of don’t line up with the woman he knows.

“I’m sad about this. I’m really sad about this and Wendy is just, you know, I’m a Wendy fan and she has been a great Housewife and a great role model,’ he said.

“She’s always led with education and her solid family values, and so I’m really thinking about her and her family and I’m certainly hoping that this is all some big nothing,” the Real Housewives producer added.

While Cohen is sympathetic to Wendy, the same can’t be said for her RHOP co-star Ashley Darby.

“We’re making melodies, not felonies, if you know what I mean,” Ashley joked during a performance at Mr. Henry’s in Washington, D.C., on Friday, Page Six reported.

“I’m just throwing it out there,” she added. “In case there’s any confusion, that’s what we’re doing around here. That’s all I’m doing here. Just making melodies.”

“This ain’t news to us,” Ashley continued, before referring to Wendy by her nickname. “This just news to y’all. Zen Wen is in the pen.”
