Britney Spears Is Dealing With Kevin Federline’s ‘Humiliating’ Memoir in a Surprisingly Healthy Way
Kevin Federline‘s memoir, You Thought You Knew, has divided pop culture fans. The timing of the tell-all seems suspicious to those who support his ex-wife, Britney Spears — a clear target of Federline’s anger. Is the 47-year-old cashing in on his life story at the expense of his sons? Spears seems to think so. The pop star called Federline’s allegations “extremely hurtful and exhausting” as she shared with fans what she’s doing to cope.
Do Kevin Federline’s allegations help or hurt the sons he shares with Britney Spears?
Kevin Federline’s memoir covers his upbringing, rise in entertainment, marriage to Spears, their split, and the co-parenting of their two sons, Sean Preston, 20, and Jayden James, 19. Some of the tell-all’s more graphic stories include Spears’ alleged substance abuse. Federline says she drank while pregnant and used drugs while breastfeeding their children. You Thought You Knew also alleges that she favored one son over the other, fed the boys shellfish despite their allergies, and scared them when she stood in their door with a knife.
The dancer and DJ says concern for Sean and Jayden stopped him from sharing his story with the public as it unfolded. Now that they’re adults, he wants them to know the truth, according to him. Federline told The Associated Press, via The Washington Post, “I want my children to be able to move forward in their lives and know that the actual truth of everything is out there. That’s a very, very big part of this for me.”
Spears responds to Federline’s shocking allegations
Some fans question whether sharing the sordid details helps or hurts Sean and Jayden. Although they are young adults, exposing them to these stories could re-traumatize them. Spears took to X.com to share her thoughts. She called her relationship with the boys “complex” and said, “I have always pleaded and screamed to have a life with my boys.”
The “Circus” singer continues her post, “I have felt demoralized by this situation and have always asked and almost begged for them to be a part of my life. Sadly, they have always witnessed the lack of respect shown by [their] own father for me.” Spears called Federline’s stories “white lies,” and said he’s going “straight to the bank” with You Thought You Knew. She continued, “I am the only one who genuinely gets hurt here.
“I will always love them. And if you really know me, you won’t pay attention to the tabloids of my mental health and drinking. I am actually a pretty intelligent woman who has been trying to live a sacred and private life the past 5 years.”
Britney Spears has bought a greenhouse to cope with Federline’s allegations
Fans know Spears for her lengthy social media posts, and this one was no different. She continued on X.com, “If truth be told the man in the interview went STRAIGHT TO the SOURCE and said it CLEAR AS DAY … no money from Britney for 5 years you trying to get paid that’s what general America is saying weird you both have moved on.” Spears stated that K-Fed’s anger scares her, and her family not contacting her is frustrating. “Yes, they secretly love to cast me out and make me feel completely isolated,” the “Toxic” singer wrote.
How is Spears coping with all of this stress? She bought herself a glass greenhouse to garden in, calling it her “mini house of healing.” The Crossroads star plans to plant gardenias, sage, peppermint, chamomile, tea tree, and more. “I’m gonna get real dirty in there with all the dirt, but I don’t care I’m honestly liberated and so damn blessed it arrived!!!” she wrote.
Spears continued to say how she wants to spend more time at home. She also hopes to reach out to others more, mentioning Michelle Pheiffer and Paris Jackson by name. “I will start acting, doing real columns monthly not about me stuff,” she continued, adding that she might start a podcast, too. Spears ended her posts on X.com, “And thank you to the people supporting my heart right now I know you guys understand it hurts.”
