In a recent post on social media, Britney Spears reflected on a conversation she had with her son. Spears, who has two sons with her ex-husband, Kevin Federline, said one of them told her that he didn’t believe in God. She said this made her feel she had failed as a mother.

Britney Spears said her son made her feel like she failed him

On Aug. 7, Spears made a lengthy post on X (formerly Twitter). In it, she reflected on a conversation she had with one of her sons that left her feeling rattled.

“I’m extremely weak but through weakness they say you will find the most strength cuz you surrender and give it to God…” she wrote. “My son told me last week it was all science he didn’t personally believe in God … In that moment, I believed I had failed as a mother because I know there is a Holy Spirit that sits high in the kingdom of heaven … I’ve been there I’ve felt it.”

She also said she wanted to apologize to her children and others for any past mistakes. She also said that she wanted to officially retire from the music industry.

“We’re all stars in my eyes cuz I’m simply mamma now,” she wrote.

Britney Spears and her sons have repaired their relationship

Spears and her sons went through a period of estrangement. They have been able to get on better terms in recent years, though. After Spears’ DUI arrest earlier this year, her sons supported her.

“Her sons are with her right now,” a source told Page Six. “They love her and want to support her and just want her to feel better.”

She also recently spent time on a yacht with them and supported them when they made their runway debuts.

She called out her own parents in the post

At the start of her lengthy post, Spears shared an image of her sons on the beach as children. She wrote about learning that they took trips to the beach with her parents during the summer. Spears said this devastated her.

“Unfortunately it wasn’t until 5 years ago that I saw they were secretly taken to the beach by my mom and dad… The whole summer,” she wrote, later adding, “The pictures I saw of my mom and dad in secret on the beach the whole summer with my children every weekend … I wondered why I wasn’t a part of their cool secret outings … I felt demoralized to live in a country where it was accepted for people like my mom and dad to live secret lives with my children.”

She said that the news that they’d gone to the beach together left her in a deeply emotional place.

“It was demoralizing …” she wrote. “I honestly went to my knees and cried for two months.”
