Despite her high-profile career, Cardi has often spoken about prioritizing family life and creating a loving, grounded environment for her kids. She recently talked about the controversial way she speaks to her children. Here’s what she said.
Cardi B says her kids ‘love’ her despite the rough way she speaks to them
Cardi B, the outspoken and chart-topping rapper, is not only making headlines for her music and bold personality but also for her growing family. The devoted mother to three children often shares glimpses of her life with them on social media, showing the playful, loving side behind her public persona. From family outings to candid moments at home, Cardi balances the demands of fame with the joys of motherhood, navigating her kids’ lives with humor and heart. Now, with a fourth child on the way, fans are eagerly following her journey as she prepares to expand her family ahead of her upcoming 2026 tour.
In October 2025, she spoke on On Purpose with Jay Shetty about hard work, relationships, and her kids.
“I think that what makes me a good mom — it’s not that I give my kids everything, but they just think I’m so funny,” Cardi explained. “Even when I curse at them, they just think I’m so funny. ‘I’m being serious with ya’ll!’ But they just love me. Of course, I know why they love me, but it’s like, ‘Why ya’ll love me so much?’ I guess I’m a good mom because they love me so much. They just think I’m so entertaining; they just think I’m so fun. Even when we’re just laying in bed, they just want to lay in bed with me.”
She then explained exactly how she speaks to her three children.
“‘Ain’t no Target. … Don’t ask me for no motherf***in’ godd*** Roblox. … Don’t come in here asking me for no godd*** Roblox.’ … This is exactly how I talk to my kids,” she continued. “And they still love me. … They love me for who I am.”
The rapper says her daughter doesn’t repeat her curse words, but her son does
While speaking to Gayle King on CBS Mornings, Cardi B explained how she’s a “fun mom” to her children.
“And it’s funny, because they’re scared of me, and then they’re not,” Cardi continued.
King asked Cardi whether others need to watch their language around her children, and the rapper confirmed “no.”
“I don’t care,” Cardi noted. “I be cursing. But, it’s crazy — I curse, but my daughter will never repeat it. I have never heard her say a bad word, never. But my son, he does it. He kind of stopped, but sometimes ….”
Cardi B says she will ‘scare’ her kids into making the right decisions
While speaking on the Angie Martinez IRL Podcast, Cardi B noted that she’s not above “scaring” her children into making the right decisions in life.
“You gotta scare them,” she explained. “My mom used to scare the s*** out of me. She used to tell me, ‘If you or Hennessy get pregnant, you will have to get out of my house. It’s not like, ‘Oh, I’ll help you,’ this and that. You have to get out of my house. There cannot be two women in this house.’ And that used to be in my head, when I was 14, 15. … It kept me straight.”
