Cardi B Explained Why Divorcing Offset Is ‘So Tough’: ‘Who the F*** Did I Marry?’
Cardi B and Offset’s tumultuous relationship has taken another dramatic turn with their impending divorce. The couple, who shares three children, has experienced multiple breakups and reconciliations over the years. In July 2024, Cardi B filed for divorce, citing a longstanding rift rather than recent cheating rumors as the primary reason for the split. In August 2025, Cardi discussed why her divorce is “so tough,” and she even went so far as to suggest that she has no idea who Offset is anymore. Here’s what she said.
Cardi B questioned ‘who’ Offset is years after they tied the knot
Cardi B and Offset’s marriage has been a rollercoaster of love, conflict, and reconciliation since their secret wedding in 2017. Despite multiple breakups and reconciliations, the couple’s relationship faced ongoing challenges, including allegations of infidelity. In July 2024, Cardi B filed for divorce from Offset for the second time, noting that their longstanding rift was the cause. A source close to the rapper mentioned that their issues had been ongoing for at least a year and that the decision was “amicable.”
In August 2025, Cardi spoke to Apple Music about her divorce.
“Going through a divorce is very, very tough, because you marry somebody, and the person that you’re divorcing is not the person that you married at all,” she explained. “You really ask yourself, like, ‘Who the f*** did I marry?’ Like, there is no love there. There is no love.”
The rapper went on to explain how she gets along well with her other exes.
“But, to me … if I ever walk away from something, I get along with all my exes,” she continued. “Even if we don’t talk, we never ended it on some nasty, nasty stuff. So, I never wish them bad. … It has gotten to the point where it’s like, oh my Gosh, I feel like I really hate you. I think I hate you. And I never wanted that.”
She reflected on why those around her have always discussed hating the father of their children and what makes divorce so difficult. “I feel like if the love is dead, people should just go their separate ways,” Cardi said.
Cardi B believes exes should be able to establish a friendship for the sake of their kids
While speaking to Apple Music, Cardi B reflected on how it’s OK if couples split if they no longer love each other. However, she doesn’t believe their relationship should turn toxic, especially when there are children involved.
“Just walk away,” she said. “Things are gonna hurt for a couple of months, but, especially when there are kids, we should be able to co-parent. We should be able to have a conversation; we should be able to ask each other advice and just become friends. But, it’s not like that.”
Cardi B noted that she no longer feels “pain” with her and Offset’s divorce.
“Actually, I’m going through something that’s very … wow, this is something that’s very dark,” she continued. “It’s not even painful; it’s kind of like … I feel like you will feel pain when you still got love feelings. I don’t have the love feelings — I went through pain last year when the love was dying. The love is dead. So, I don’t feel pain.”
Offset says he has no plans to ever get married again
When it comes to marriage, Offset is finished after he and Cardi B finalize their divorce. He spoke candidly about the idea of tying the knot again while on the Full Send Podcast, claiming another marriage is “not for me.”
“I’ve done it,” Offset said. “Had three kids with it. It’s like a mission that’s been complete.”
Offset would also warn others against marriage.
“I would say, unless you’re cool with changing your life entirely,” he said. “You got a partner that’s different. Especially when it’s written and it’s a real thing. Like, is this partner different?”
