Cardi B has been open about her approach to parenting, describing herself as a hands-on and strict mom to her three children. She maintains a carefully structured routine, emphasizing the importance of discipline, consistency, and manners while still nurturing her kids’ creativity and individuality. Despite her celebrity lifestyle, she makes it clear that her children’s well-being and development come first, insisting that fame does not grant them leniency. Here’s what she recently explained about her children’s “mandatory” schedule and what she hopes to instill in them as they age.

Cardi B says her young kids already have tutoring and additional classes after school

Cardi B is the proud mother of three children, each at a different stage of early childhood, which she often describes as both joyful and challenging. Her eldest, Kulture, is 7 and already showing a strong personality reminiscent of her mother’s fiery spirit. Her second child, Wave, is 4 and keeps Cardi on her toes with boundless energy and curiosity. Most recently, Cardi welcomed her youngest, Blossom, born in 2024. And now, the “Bodak Yellow” rapper is pregnant with her fourth child and first baby with boyfriend Stefon Diggs.

Cardi spoke on the Jay Shetty Podcast about teaching her children the value of hard work at a young age. She agreed with the host that a strong work ethic starts early on, and she hopes to instill this in them with strict routines. Cardi noted that once school’s over, her kids still have tutoring, lessons, and other classes they partake in.

“My kids, they have school until 3 p.m., right? And after school, I don’t care — and I don’t want ya’ll at home talking about I’m tough and s***. I don’t give a f***. This is what I work hard for,” she explained. “After school, my kids, four times a week, they have tutoring, reading, math …. They have tutoring — mandatory in my house. Then, Kulture has piano or she’s got gym class. Wave, he’s got sports class, and he’s still gotta do the tutoring.”

“It’s discipline. It’s got to be in you,” the proud mom continued. “And you have to be better than me. I want you to be better than me.”

Cardi B says she wants her children to learn the skills she never could accomplish, like swimming

Cardi B wants her kids to become even more accomplished than she is. “There are things that I cannot do that I want my kids to do,” she said on the Jay Shetty Podcast.

The rapper went on to explain how she never learned to swim, so she wants her kids to learn. She explained how she once went to a pool to learn, and a “crazy fight” broke out. “People was getting cut left and right,” she continued. “So, I couldn’t go swimming because I had no pool. If I have a pool, you’re gonna learn how to swim. You’re gonna take your swimming classes.”

Additionally, she wants her kids to become well-versed in dance. “I’m not really good with my feet,” she admitted, “so you’re gonna take dance classes. If you ever want to be a superstar, that s*** gonna be in you that you a dancer.”

“I feel like my mom is more strict than me in certain things,” Cardi said while on the Angie Martinez IRL podcast. Like, my mom put a timer on my kids’ iPad. So, at 8 o’clock, my daughter be crying to me, like, ‘Please, Mommy, please!’ She’ll cry to me, and I’ll be like, OK, you can use my phone.”

On the flip side, the rapper also noted that her mom thinks her strict schedule for her kids is “crazy.” In response, she tells her mom to stop and continues to push her children to do their best work.
