Cardi B came dressed to impress for the second day of her civil assault trial.

The rapper opted for a striking statement suit as the case continued in Los Angeles on August 26. While temps were high in Southern California on Tuesday, that didn’t stop Cardi from looking chic in tweed pants and matching jacket with fringed cuffs and collar. She kept her accessories minimal and switched up her hair for day 2 of the trial, swapping Monday’s pixie cut for flowing blonde locks.

Cardi is being sued by a former security guard, Emani Ellis, who says that the Grammy-winner attacked her in February 2018 while Cardi was visiting her OB/GYN for a checkup. Ellis claims that Cardi lashed out after she exited an elevator on the fifth floor of a building in Beverly Hills. At the time, she was four months pregnant and trying to keep the baby news under wraps. Ellis recognized Cardi, which led to the altercation.

“After she heard me say her name, she turned back around, and the first thing out her mouth was, excuse my language, ‘Why the [expletive] are you telling people that you seen me?’” Ellis testified on Monday, according to Court TV

Ellis says that Cardi then verbally attacked her, thrust her finger in her face, spat on her, and scratched her with her fingernails

“She was like, ‘[Expletive] you, you fat-ass [expletive], I’m gonna beat your ass, I’m gonna get you fired, [racial slur], that’s why you do security,’” Ellis said, adding that she found the incident “super traumatizing.”

Cardi B takes the stand in civil assault trial

Cardi B took the stand on Tuesday. She answered questions about her manicure, her appointment with her doctor, and whether her personal security was with her at the time of the incident. The “Bodak Yellow” singer also insisted that the confrontation with Ellis was nothing more than a “verbal altercation.”

“She didn’t hit me,” Cardi said. “I didn’t hit her … It was like a verbal fight, but it didn’t get physical at all.”

Cardi claimed that Ellis followed and recorded her during the visit to the doctor. When Cardi asked her to stop, she refused.

“I keep telling her, ‘You need to back up. Back up.’ … I keep telling her to back up but she’s not backing up.”
