Cardi B has openly discussed her journey to wealth. In the early 2010s, the rapper went viral on Instagram and Vine with her hilarious personality, building a loyal following before her music career. She later joined Love & Hip Hop: New York, using the show as a stepping stone before she released her breakout hit, “Bodak Yellow,” in 2017. Now, in 2026, Cardi is breaking records with her “Little Miss Drama Tour.” And she’s become more candid than ever regarding her upbringing and how it greatly differs from the life she lives today.
A March 2026 report on celebrity handbag collections from women’s fashion brand Kaiia found that Cardi B has the third most expensive collection. According to the study, the rapper’s handbag collection is worth around $2 million, with 50 luxury bags total. Her Faubourg “House” Birkin, gifted by Offset, is reportedly her most expensive piece. The Faubourg Birkin resembles a miniature townhouse and sells for nearly $400,000 on the resale market. It’s also the most expensive individual bag owned by any celebrity on the list.
The study found that Kim Kardashian has the second-most expensive collection, with an estimated 100 bags worth $2.5 million. And Singaporean socialite Jamie Chua owns the most expensive luxury handbag collection with 200 bags worth $6.5 million.
“We might think these celebrities are obsessed with handbag shopping, and probably that’s true, but they’re also making investments,” the fashion expert from Kaiia commented. “The resale market has turned luxury bags into assets that go up in value over time. A standard Hermès Birkin bought for $12,000 in 2015 now resells for $18,000 to $25,000, depending on condition and color. The Himalaya Birkin does even better, with some selling at auction for over $500,000. So when a celebrity drops $300K on a bag, they’re buying something that could be worth $400,000 or $500,000 in five years if they keep it pristine.”
The ‘Am I the Drama?’ rapper said she believes some luxury bags are ‘ugly’
Cardi B got candid with Emma Grede on the Aspire podcast when talking about money and luxury items. The rapper admitted that while she has beautiful handbags and jewelry, she doesn’t always love the high-end styles.
“One thing sometimes, I be looking around … and I be like, ‘These bags are kind of ugly.’ And even with jewelry, I’ll be like, ‘Wow. Nobody wore these f***ing chains anymore. Why did I bought a chain with my name on it so big? It’s so ugly.'”
Cardi advised fans to buy “timeless” jewelry instead of standout pieces that will surely go out of style. And she noted that her most ridiculous purchases were typically jewelry pieces that quickly went out of fashion.
“That’s one thing about me,” Cardi continued. “Once I get obsessed with something, I buy so much at one time, and then I be like, ‘Oh, it’s so ugly.’ No more ugly jewelry. And make sure you buy timeless Hermès bags, because I got so much of them …. The values of certain things go ups and downs, and up and downs ….”
