Cardi B Revealed ‘Something Was Dying’ in Her in 2025
The year 2025 was a whirlwind for Cardi B, blending new music, new love, and a growing family. After splitting from her ex‑husband Offset, with whom she shares three children, Cardi began a new chapter with NFL star Stefon Diggs. By September, the rapper confirmed she was expecting her fourth child, and in November 2025, she welcomed a newborn son. She has a lot to look forward to in 2026 with her “Little Miss Drama Tour.” Before 2025 ended, she reflected on how she felt like “something was dying” in her over the past year. Here’s what she explained.
Cardi B reflected on 2025 by stating that she felt ‘something was dying’ within her
Cardi B hasn’t had an easy 2025. In the past year, she has candidly spoken about how her marriage to Offset deteriorated, revealing she “felt the love dying” from both sides after years of ups and downs. She has described the relationship as emotionally draining, saying at times she felt mentally exhausted, struggling with depression, paranoia, and intense stress before deciding to step away. Cardi filed for divorce in July 2024 after their prior 2020 split and reconciliation. The decision came amid repeated cycles of breaking up and making up, with Cardi ultimately concluding that distance and personal growth were necessary.
Offset aside, the rapper noted that she faced other difficulties in her personal and professional life. In September 2025, Cardi spoke to Apple Music about the year she had, including how she felt something was “dying” within her.
“This past year, I feel like something kind of was dying in me,” she explained. “Like, my humbleness. Me trying so much to be unproblematic, me trying to avoid drama, avoid the disses, avoid the b****es, avoid the talks — it’s like, that’s dying out in me. That’s really dying in me. Like, I’m really about to show you, b****, that you were not f***ing with me. Like, the cockiness is like being born again.”
“My life, my relationships, that s*** is dying now, too,” Cardi continued, noting that “giving chances” to men, women, and others in her life has caused her grief.
The rapper reflected on whether she’s the ‘drama’ in her own life
During the interview with Apple Music, Cardi B reflected on the title of her 2025 album, Am I the Drama? She noted that she wonders whether she’s the cause of the chaos around her.
“It just do feel like, damn, am I the drama?” she said.
Cardi had serious beef with Nicki Minaj in 2025. They had a war of words on X, resulting in insults directed at each other’s kids. In the interview, Cardi noted that she’s tried to take hiatuses from the internet. However, every time she steps away, she says something drags her back in.
“For some reason, I’m getting tried even when I’m not saying nothing, even when I’m not doing nothing,” she continued. “… It’s like, damn, do drama chase me, or am I just the drama?”
Cardi B already has plans for a new album
Cardi B fans loved Am I the Drama?, and they should possibly gear up for new music sooner rather than later. According to Billboard, Cardi went on X Spaces in December 2025 to discuss what she hopes to see happen with her next album.
“One thing I’mma do for my next project or my next song, I kinda just wanna go with something that makes me feel good and makes me happy,” she said. “I feel I overthink too much. I super, super, super overthink. And the songs people like are the songs that to me was just a breeze to do.”
“… Next project, I hope that I just release things,” she continued. Cardi added that the songs on her 2025 album that had her “stressing” weren’t fan favorites. Instead, it was the tracks that had a “chill” and “relaxed” vibe that everyone ended up loving.
