Must-Read Celebrity Book Club Picks for April 2026
Looking for your next great read? Celebrities have you covered. These days, everyone from Oprah to RuPaul has a book club dedicated to sharing their favorite books with their fans.
We’ve rounded up the April 2026 picks for several celebrity book clubs. Whether you’re in the mood for an enemies-to-lovers romance, a less-read novel by the author of Jane Eyre, or a look at the lives of disabled individuals at an adult daycare center in Los Angeles, these stars have you covered.
Oprah’s Book Club: ‘Kin’ by Tayari Jones
Oprah Winfrey kicked off the celebrity book club trend way back in 1996. Thirty years later, it’s still going strong. The former talk show host doesn’t pick a new book every month, instead opting to spend months digging deep into each of her picks. Her first selection for 2026 is Kin by Tayari Jones, about two motherless daughters growing up in segregated Louisiana.
Oprah called Kin “a masterpiece of a novel that contemplates the meaning and complications of love and friendship,” adding that “it will live with you long after you turn the last page.”
Read With Jenna: ‘Upward Bound’ by Wood Brown
Today’s Jenna Bush Hager has selected Woody Brown’s Upward Bound as her April 2026 “Read With Jenna” pick. Brown is nonverbal and autistic. His debut novel – which he wrote with the help of a letter board he uses to communicate – focuses on a group of people at an adult daycare center in California.
“This is a love story about mothers and sons — a window into a world so often misunderstood. I am confident it will open hearts and change minds,” Bush Hager said.
Between Two Books (Florence Welch): ‘Villette’ by Charlotte Bronte
Did you know that Florence Welch has a book club? The Florence and the Machine singer periodically shares her book picks with her Between Two Books book club. This season’s pick in Villette by Charlotte Bronte. This lesser-known title from the author of Jane Eyre follows a young 19th-century woman as she leave England to take a teaching job in Belgium.
Villette is “an autobiographical study of solitude and unrequited love,” noted the Between Two Books Instagram.
Service95 (Dua Lipa): ‘Jerusalem’ by Jez Butterworth
Looking to expand your reading horizons? Dua Lipa’s Service95 book club tends to focus on contemporary literature, global voices, and thought-provoking non-fiction. (Past selections includes Mark Ronson’s memoir Night People and Emma Cline’s novel The Guest.) For April 2026, the pick is Jerusalem by Jez Butterworth. The 2009 play focuses on an eccentric man who lives in a trailer on the outskirts of an English village.
“I first read Jerusalem at 15, studying for my English GCSEs, and Johnny ‘Rooster’ Byron has stayed with me ever since,” the “Levitating” singer shared on Instagram. “When I finally saw legendary actor Mark Rylance perform the role onstage in 2022, it was everything I had imagined. Now, I want you to have that experience.”
RuPaul’s Book Club: ‘Star Shipped’ by Cat Sebastian
RuPaul’s book club focuses on sharing titles that are empowering and “full of laughter.” For April 2026, the Drag Race host has chosen Star Shipped by Cat Sebastian. It’s a contemporary slow-burn enemies-to-lovers romance between Simon and Charlie, two actors who’ve spent nearly 10 years starring together on a popular sci-fi series. These two don’t get along but fake being friends for the sake of their careers. But when an unexpected road trip forces them together, things start to change in a major way.
The Queen’s Reading Room
Queen Camilla’s charity celebrates the power and benefits of reading, through research, events, and more. She also has a book club, picking four books for each of the four seasons of the year. Recent picks include The Wolf, a mystery by fan-favorite author Louise Penny, Raising Hare by Chloe Dalton, In Memoriam by Alice Winn, and Conclave by Robert Harris
