‘Chaotic’ Concert Experience Has Fans Demanding Refunds From Kanye West
Kanye West can’t seem to get anything right these days. The controversial rapper is facing allegations of sexual abuse and trafficking in the United States and is experiencing mounting trouble in China after a disastrous concert. West was recently in Shanghai for his first concert in nearly a year, but it didn’t go well. The concert was so chaotic that spectators are calling for a complete refund. West is ignoring the complaints.
Fans demand a refund after Kanye West’s concert
Kanye took the stage at Shanghai Stadium this week for the first time in almost a year. The controversial rapper had 70,000 people on hand to see him perform, but none of them seemed to leave satisfied. West’s show is being hailed as one of the worst concerts many spectators have been to, and he is being lambasted online.
So I’ve been a fan of Kanye West since I was a teen. MBDTF opened my ears to the sonics in music. Was hard to get tix for him in Shanghai but got it. Was hyped af. Couldn’t even sleep night before. But. Worst concert I’ve ever been to. @kanyewest u can be better pic.twitter.com/3CbPd0BO29

Fans were so dismayed at the “chaotic” nature of the rain-soaked show that they chanted for refunds. After the event, they took to social media to demand the same, insisting they were disappointed by the show’s lack of organization, West’s performance, and inclement weather.
What went wrong?
West’s return to China didn’t end well, with concertgoers quick to denounce the rapper and his lack of professionalism. Several spectators took to X to share their experience, and not a single one of them offered a positive review of the event. West apparently showed up to the show 40 minutes late. When he was on stage, technical issues arose, causing him to restart several songs. Reportedly, he also disappeared backstage for more than 20 minutes while his music played from speakers. When he was on stage, spectators claimed he wasn’t exactly performing. He is being accused of spending most of the concert lip-syncing.
One fan suggested that while he’s a fan of West’s music, he doesn’t believe he’s a good performer. The fan took to social media to suggest West be “that guy” who drops surprise albums and spends most of his time in the studio. West has not responded to the backlash. In fact, he’s opting to ignore the problems instead. While fans lambasted the artist for his lackluster performance, he took to X (formerly Twitter) to thank his fans and the Chinese government, claiming the “energy” was “amazing.”
Where is Kanye West headed next?
While West is currently behaving as if his show in China went well, fans in Slovakia and South Korea are probably hoping he learns from his mistakes. The controversial artist’s China show wasn’t a one-off show. He is headed to Slovakia next with performances planned for July 18, July 19, and July 20.
Following his stint in Slovakia, he’ll head to South Korea. He will be performing at Incheon Munhak Stadium, a multi-purpose sports complex with a capacity of 50,000 seats, on July 26. West previously canceled an event at the same stadium on May 30 amid renewed controversy. He has not revealed any additional dates or planned concerts. His current smattering of shows doesn’t really seem to be associated with a larger, organized tour.
