Chrishell Stause Quits ‘Selling Sunset’ After ‘Brutal’ Season 9 Reunion
Chrishell Stause is done with the drama.
The Selling Sunset star has confirmed she will not return to the Netflix series if it is renewed for season 10.
Chrishell Stause says ‘Selling Sunset’ is ‘no longer good for my mental health’
Stause broke her big news in an interview with Bustle.
“I’ve vacillated back and forth with this decision in the past,” the All My Children alum said. “I have to be honest – having come from nothing, it’s really hard to turn something like this down.”
But Stause said she was at a point in her life and career where it was time for a change.
“I’ve gotten to a place where I don’t need the show financially,” she explained. “I’m lucky to have other forms of employment, because it’s no longer good for my mental health.”
The former soap star said she’s considering returning to acting and is also shopping a script. She’s eager to find roles that mesh with her queer identity.
“Let’s do a holiday movie where I’m leading it and we’re doing queer stories,” she said.
‘Selling Sunset’ star has ‘no ill will toward the show’

Stause’s decision to quit Selling Sunset comes after a particularly tumultuous season that saw her clash with various other cast members, including Nicole Young, Emma Hernan, Hernan’s boyfriend Blake Davis, and Bre Tiesi. The various conflicts came to a head during a tense reunion, which was filming in August 2025.
“The reunion was so brutal,” she told Variety. “In that moment, I realized I will be done here going forward. I wish everyone the best, but this isn’t the place for me. It felt a little bit like a dog pile.”
It wasn’t the outcome Stause expected when she started filming the new episodes.
“I liked this season; I don’t think I had a hard season. It’s just the way it culminates with the reunion, and how everything landed,” she shared. “I went into the season thinking everything was going to be easy. Never say those famous last words.
Stause has been with Selling Sunset since it premiered in 2019. Her absence will definitely leave a hole in the soapy series focused on high-end Los Angeles real estate and the glamorous people who sell it. Can the show survive without her? Stause doesn’t know, she she told Bustle she has “wish[es] them the best.”
If they do do another one, by then, I may not watch it. I don’t know,” she said. “But I have no ill will toward the show. The show has given me so many opportunities, and I don’t want to be bitter about it, even though I’m leaving not in the way that I would’ve loved.”
Selling Sunset Season 9 is now streaming on Netflix.
