Christina Haack is getting real about the cost of unraveling her marriage to Josh Hall

The HGTV star recently finalized her split from her husband of a little more than two years. While she’s said she’s glad to have the ill-fated relationship in her past, getting out of the situation didn’t come cheap. In a May 7 social media update, she revealed that she’s had to cut back on spending to cover the cost of her divorce.

On her Instagram Story, Christina shared a photo of herself at an April 30 For Your Consideration Emmy event for her newest show, The Flip Off. The mom of three donned a long-sleeved black minidress for the occasion. And her look didn’t break the bank. She spent under $100 on the Princess Polly dress from Nordstrom, she revealed.

“Paying for this divorce hasn’t been cheap,” she wrote. “[S]o I’ve been trying to cut down on my spending, especially when it comes to clothes. This dress was super cute and only $65.”

Christina hasn’t opened up about the specific terms of her divorce from Josh. The two recently reached a settlement through mediation. That came after some messy back and forth over financial matters, including his request for spousal support (she claimed he wanted $65,000 a month, which he denied) and her attempt to sell her home in Tennessee. In January, she hinted that he was unwilling to negotiate and that they might be headed to court.

“It’s going to be fun,” she said sarcastically during the Jan. 13 episode of the Radio Andy show Jeff Lewis Live. “Can’t wait.”

Christina Haack turned to the Disso Queen to mediate her divorce

The Christina on the Coast star eventually turned to celebrity divorce attorney Laura Wasser to help resolve matters with her ex. Wasser – the “Disso Queen” – has handled divorces for clients such as Johnny Depp, Angelina Jolie, Britney Spears, and Kim Kardashian. She’s known for keeping potentially messy details of celeb splits out of the public eye. Unsurprisingly, her services come at a premium. She charges $850 an hour and requires a $25,000 retainer, according to a 2016 report from Bloomberg

While Christina has kept quiet about the specifics of her split from Josh, she’s made it clear she’s happy with the results Wasser achieved.

“Huge thank you to the Disso Queen,” Christina wrote on her Instagram Story on May 1, calling her “a true class act.”

“I loved watching you in action and how you handle everything and everyone with class and grace… I appreciate you all beyond words,” she continued. “I have learned so much under your guidance.”

“I’m grateful to have this behind me,” the Flip or Flop star added. “I can’t wait to move on with my life and focus on what’s ahead and all my blessings.”
