There were a few tense moments this weekend at the Steel City Con in Pittsburgh. 68-year-old actor Christopher Lambert was on hand as part of the Highlander team when he reportedly collapsed, prompting a medical rescue. While the details seemed serious at first, he is reportedly doing just fine and resting. Here’s everything we know.

Christopher Lambert was on hand to sign autographs for Highlander fans this weekend in Pittsburgh, but things didn’t go to plan. According to TMZ, Lambert collapsed at his booth in the middle of a signing. Witnesses told the outlet that medical personnel swooped in and rescued the actor, who was carted away to a hospital.
The incident left fans shaken and concerned for the star, but apparently all is well. A representative connected with TMZ revealed that Lambert is doing just fine and had already been released from the hospital. The rep told the publication that Lambert simply suffered a blood sugar drop after failing to eat well and rest during a busy convention season. He is resting at his hotel as of press time and did not require additional observation at the hospital. While he is scheduled to appear again on Sunday, it is unclear if he’ll make it back to his booth. He is, however, expected to make a full recovery in time for a scheduled event in Chicago next week.
He had a health scare that prevented him from attending a convention last year, too
Christopher Lambert’s medical emergency prompted plenty of concern from fans. The concern was warranted, as this was not the first time that Lambert’s convention schedule has been interrupted by a medical issue. In March 2025, the actor was forced to cancel an appearance at SciFiWorld, a Comic-Con-style event in Jönköping, Sweden, after suffering a serious fall down a set of hotel stairs. At the time, organizers said Lambert wasn’t permitted to travel or move for a full month under doctor’s orders following the accident.
His representative, Lucas Confortini, later clarified that the actor had tripped while entering a hotel, resulting in a back injury. After following doctor’s orders, he made a full recovery. He was reportedly deeply upset that he was unable to make the event, and continued on the convention circuit months later.
It doesn’t look like this medical scare will be slowing him down for long either. The actor has no plans to slow down his appearances, even as he ages. He has spent years on the convention circuit, serving as a fan favorite thanks to his role in Highlander and Greystoke: The Legend of Tarzan, Lord of the Apes. The actor has four upcoming projects in the works, according to IMDb. Three of those projects are in pre-production, with one in post-production at this time.
