Ciara Princess Harris, known mononymously as Ciara, and Russell Wilson have a romance rooted in intention and faith. The couple first met in 2015 and quickly connected over their shared values, with Wilson famously revealing that they chose celibacy before marriage as a way to strengthen their bond. He proposed just months into their relationship during a surprise getaway in Seychelles, and they tied the knot in a storybook ceremony at an English castle in July 2016.

Wilson plays for the New York Giants, and Ciara loves the football hype. So, is she looking forward to his eventual retirement?

“No,” she answered when asked during an interview on The Breakfast Club. “I want for him to do it when he wants to do it. But, I think he still has a great story to tell. You know, he’s been so fortunate to have done all that he’s done, and defy many odds, and so I think he’s still got a lot more amazing football left in him, and so I’m just excited to support him. But, whenever he wants to do that ….”

Ciara went on to describe her home as “organized chaos” due to their different schedules. “But, we’re having fun right now,” she explained. “I really love football too, so I enjoy it. I enjoy watching him do his thing.”

Russell Wilson wants to continue in the NFL for several more years

Heading into the 2025 NFL season, Russell Wilson finds himself at a pivotal juncture in his illustrious career. After a challenging stint with the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2024, where he started late due to a calf injury and faced uncertainty about his future with the team, Wilson signed a one-year, $10.5 million contract with the New York Giants.

Despite his Super Bowl victory and multiple Pro Bowl selections, his tenure with the Giants is under scrutiny. Rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart, drafted 25th overall, has impressed during the preseason, leading to speculation that he could take over the starting role early in the season. With challenging early opponents, including the Cowboys, Chiefs, and Eagles, the Giants’ decision to embrace the youth movement could hinge on their start.

Despite what’s stacked against him, Wilson accepts the challenge.

“I definitely want to play another five to seven years,” he previously told ESPN’s Hannah Storm, according to The U.S. Sun. “… I think that’s always been my mindset, is the longevity of the game.”

“I feel great, I feel young, I feel like I can still move around out there and make all the decisions and all the throws,” he continued.

Ciara isn’t bothered by the headlines about her and her husband

While speaking on The Breakfast Club, Ciara reflected on how her relationship with her husband has occasionally overshadowed her career. While this might bother some celebrities, Ciara doesn’t pay it any mind.

“I think people are entitled to what they feel,” she thoughtfully answered. “I mean, that’s up to you and what you want to feel. I’m out here living; I’m living my life. A part of living in front of the world is you’re gonna be open to people having opinions. But, that’s alright. You’re entitled to it. So, I don’t really worry about those things.”
