Corey Feldman’s ‘DWTS’ Partner Jenna Johnson Is Struggling to Work With ‘Difficult’ Actor
Corey Feldman and Jenna Johnson are out of sync.
The Dancing With the Stars partners have yet to find their rhythm, as was clear in a disappointing performance in the season 34 premiere. The pair tied for the lowest score of the night with Andy Richter and Emma Slater, with just 9/20 points.
Reigning champ Johnson, 31, is having a “really difficult time” working with the 54-year-old Stand By Me actor, according to her brother-in-law, Maksim Chmerkovskiy.
“Obviously, Jenna has a bit of an uphill climb with Corey, which is easy for everybody to say from [outside], but I know that she’s having a much more difficult time with this entire thing and to the point that it is really difficult for her,” Chmerkovskiy told The Daily Mail (via Page Six).
The issue is both Feldman’s work ethic and his less-than-stellar dancing skills, Chmerkovskiy added.
“Don’t forget this production is not just about you and your partner dancing, it’s about this massive behemoth of everything that’s happening — the amount of people that you have to deal with, the amount of interviews, and this is all between your rehearsal time and your therapy, and you are trying to lick your wounds and all that stuff,” he shared.
But Chmerkovskiy, who won the Mirrorball Trophy in 2018, says Johnson is a skilled coach. She may still be able to whip Feldman into shape.
“That show requires you to be able to tell grown people what to do and stand your ground,” he said. “So I think Jenna will get it done.”
Dancing With the Stars airs Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on ABC and Disney+. Episodes stream the next day on Hulu.
