‘Cowboy Post Malone’ Partners With Kim Kardashian — And Fans Can’t Forget His Rapper Roots
Before he became a chart-topping genre-bender, Post Malone, born Austin Richard Post, emerged from humble beginnings marked by internet hustle and a DIY approach to music. Growing up in Grapevine, Texas, he taught himself guitar by playing Guitar Hero and began recording songs in his bedroom. He fused rap, rock, and melodic hooks into a sound that didn’t fit neatly into any one category. And his rise in music was rooted firmly in rap, even if his sound would later stretch beyond the genre’s borders. Now, we’re looking at Post’s latest collaboration with Kim Kardashian’s SKIMS — and it’s reminding fans of his rapper roots.
Post Malone is officially the new face of Kim Kardashian’s SKIMS
Post Malone’s latest collaboration with Kim Kardashian’s SKIMS brand has fans buzzing, as the partnership highlights his unexpected but seamless crossover into the world of fashion. Known for his “cowboy grunge” aesthetic that mixes rugged denim, Western hats, and tattoo-covered skin, Post brings a raw, edgy twist to SKIMS’ usually sleek, body-conscious image. The campaign taps into his ability to reinvent himself, showing him as both playful and self-assured while modeling the brand’s staples.
For Kardashian, teaming up with Post extends SKIMS’ reach into the music world. And for Post, it’s another reminder that his influence now extends far beyond rap and pop.
Post spoke to GQ while shooting for the SKIMS campaign. He noted how beautiful Utah was — and he felt great wearing Kardashian’s line of products.
“I had SKIMS on, but it was the first time I’ve ever experienced it,” he told the interviewer. “And it was really a lot of fun, it made me feel like a handsome son of a b****.”
Post explained how the SKIMS campaign fell into his lap. “In Utah, it gets very, very, very cold,” he said. “And some way or another, I found this comforter robe. Whenever I went out to smoke at night, I would always put this on, and it was probably the most comfortable thing I’ve ever worn in my entire life. From there, it just snowballed out of control to the point [where now] I’m naked in the woods. Well, not naked. But you can’t see the underwear anyways. They’re camouflage.”
Fans can’t get over Post Malone’s roots now that they’re seeing him team up with Kim Kardashian
Post Malone’s rise in music was rooted firmly in rap, even if his sound would later stretch beyond the genre’s borders. After “White Iverson” went viral in 2015, he quickly became a fixture in hip-hop circles. He earned co-signs from rappers like Kanye “Ye” West and 50 Cent while collaborating with heavyweights including Quavo and Ty Dolla $ign. His early projects leaned heavily into trap beats, melodic flows, and swaggering lyrics, establishing him as one of the most promising new voices in rap.
Fans on Reddit called the artist “Cowboy Post Malone” after seeing his SKIMS transformation.
“Cowboy Post Malone is not something I had on a bingo card,” one fan wrote. “I feel like I don’t recognize him.”
“Will never not be hilarious to me that he came onto the scene as a rapper,” another fan noted, which received nearly 200 upvotes in one day.
The pop star joins the ranks with other famous men who’ve modeled for SKIMS
SKIMS for Men marked a bold expansion of Kim Kardashian’s shapewear empire, bringing the brand’s signature focus on comfort, fit, and sleek minimalism to a new audience. The line features versatile essentials, from fitted T-shirts and hoodies to underwear and loungewear. And it’s designed to complement a range of body types while emphasizing soft fabrics and clean lines.
In October 2023, Page Six reported that the line featured San Francisco 49ers defensive lineman Nick Bosa, Oklahoma City Thunder point guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, and Brazilian soccer star Neymar.
With Post Malone in the mix, we anticipate seeing more surprising faces boast Kardashian’s offerings.
