There’s no disputing that Cristiano Ronaldo is one of the greatest soccer players in the world.

He has dominated the sport for more than two decades, broken countless records, and set unprecedented standards for athleticism and goal-scoring. He is also the game’s all-time top scorer, with over 970 career goals. He has won 35 major trophies, including five UEFA Champions League titles and domestic league titles in England, Spain, and Italy.

But there’s one thing Ronaldo hasn’t achieved yet, and that is winning a World Cup. CR7 now has a chance to do just that in his final World Cup, but according to one of his former teammates, even if he does that it still won’t put him on par with soccer’s other GOAT, Lionel Messi.

In an interview with Ozoon about the FIFA World Cup, former Italian soccer star, who played with Ronaldo at Manchester United, Giuseppe Rossi, said, “Imagine if Cristiano Ronaldo does win the World Cup, it would be crazy. The debates would be constant, and he has a great chance because he has a fantastic team with young, hungry players.”

Rossi added, “They have the best midfielders, like Vitinha and Joao Neves with Nuno Mende in the team too, they have a squad of proven players. If they win this, it’s going to spark some uncomfortable GOAT conversations.

“However, I don’t always look at titles. I prefer to look at the style of play and how a player interprets the game, and in that regard, I don’t think anyone in the world does it the way Lionel Messi does. Winning the World Cup won’t change my opinion.”
