D4vd is now considered a suspect in the death of Celeste Rivas Hernandez, a Los Angeles Police Department source has told NBC4. The news comes months after the decomposed remains of the 15-year-old were discovered in the trunk of the singer’s car.

Rivas’ body was found inside a Tesla in a Los Angeles tow yard on September 8. The vehicle had been impounded after it was reported abandoned in the Hollywood Hills.

Police now believe that Rivas may have died in the spring of 2025 and that D4vd, 20, probably had help dismembering and disposing of her body. A cause of death has not been determined. The “Romantic Homicide” singer is not cooperating with the investigation, the source said.

D4vd, whose real name is David Anthony Burke, was in Minneapolis when the grisly discovery was made. Soon after, he canceled his tour. He has since moved out of his home in Los Angeles and is reportedly staying with family in Texas.

Rivas was from Lake Elsinore, California, a suburban community in Riverside County located midway between Los Angeles and San Diego. Her family reported her missing in April 2024. Rivas’ mother told police that her daughter was dating a man named David, People reports, but that she had not met him. Burke and Rivas also reportedly had matching tattoos. Internet sleuths claim to have uncovered additional evidence, including Discord chats, indicating that the two were involved in a relationship.
