Danica Patrick Under Fire After Using Bad Bunny Music Despite Criticizing His Super Bowl Halftime Spot
Puerto Rican superstar Bad Bunny is set to headline the Apple Music Super Bowl LX Halftime Show on Feb. 8, 2026. This makes the musician the first solo Latin and Spanish‑speaking artist to lead the halftime stage in this historic NFL event. While fans can’t wait to see his debut, the historic act faces public opposition from big names. Retired race car driver Danica Patrick has remained outspoken against Bad Bunny’s upcoming performance. Now, fans are calling Patrick out for using the star’s music in an Instagram post.
Danica Patrick opposes Bad Bunny’s historic Super Bowl LX halftime performance
Known offstage as Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, Bad Bunny arrives for his Super Bowl LX Halftime Show fresh off winning Album of the Year at the 2026 Grammys for Debí Tirar Más Fotos. And he promises a performance that’s “a huge party” and deeply rooted in his culture. His music is a trademark blend of Latin trap, reggaeton, and other Caribbean styles, and he plans to bring energetic choreography and cultural celebration to the stage.
Fans can’t wait for this historic performance. Unfortunately, not everyone is happy. Retired American race car driver Danica Patrick has publicly opposed Bad Bunny taking on the Super Bowl LX Halftime Show. After the announcement, she posted her grievances to X.
“Oh fun,” she wrote with an eye-roll emoji, Wealth of Geeks via Yahoo Sports reports. “No songs in English should not be allowed at one of America’s highest rated television events of the year … not just for sports.”
Fans in support of Bad Bunny slammed Patrick for her take.
“Why are people proud that they only speak one language?” one Reddit user commented. “This is so embarrassing.”
Bad Bunny supporters called Danica Patrick out for using his music in an Instagram post
While Danica Patrick is opposed to seeing Bad Bunny take on the Super Bowl LX stage, she’s not opposed to using his music on social media. In March 2025, she posted a carousel of photos, the first showing her holding several balloons for her birthday. And she added Bad Bunny’s “MONACO” to the post.
“Stretched celebrating 43 out for 10 days,” she captioned the Instagram post.
Bad Bunny fans called her out for her opposition to the artist playing the Super Bowl Halftime Show when she clearly enjoys his music.
“Take his music off your post since you hate him for the simple fact he was picked to perform in the NFL halftime show and because he sings and speaks Spanish,” one Instagram user commented on the post.
“What a hypocrite,” another user wrote with a laughing-crying emoji.
Another Reddit user commented on Patrick’s use of the word “casa” in a previous Instagram post — the Spanish word for “home.”
“Had fun showing mom and dad fall in the mountains at the new casa,” Patrick’s Instagram post caption read. “The aspens turning colors is truly stunning.”
“Rules for thee but not for me,” the Reddit user noted. “She just posted to her Instagram and her caption uses the Spanish word for house. I hate her double standards ….”
The Puerto Rican artist says the halftime performance will be a ‘huge party’
Bad Bunny discussed his upcoming Super Bowl LX Halftime Show with Apple Music.
“To be honest, I don’t know how I’m feeling,” he admitted. “There’s a lot. I’m still in the middle of my tour. I was just at the Grammys last week. All of that.”
Despite this, he noted he’s “excited” for what’s to come. “I’m excited, but at the same time, I feel more excited about the people than even me — my family, my friends, the people who have always believed in me,” he continued. “This moment, the culture — that’s what makes these shows special.”
Bad Bunny said fans should expect a “huge party” for the show. “What people can expect from me … I want to bring to the stage, of course, a lot of my culture. But I really don’t, I don’t want to give any spoilers. It’s going to be fun.”
