Diddy’s Friend Says Mogul Awoke to Knife Pressed to His Throat
In October 2025, music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs was sentenced to 50 months in federal prison after being convicted on two counts of transporting individuals across state lines for prostitution, violating the Mann Act. He was acquitted of more severe charges, including sex trafficking and racketeering. But the court emphasized the seriousness of his actions. Combs, who has been incarcerated at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn since his September 2024 arrest, expressed deep remorse during sentencing. And he’s allegedly had to deal with unsavory prison behavior. Here’s what his friend alleged regarding a threat to his life.
Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs’ friend said the mogul woke up in prison with a knife pressed against his throat
The Metropolitan Detention Center (MDC) in Brooklyn, New York, has garnered a notorious reputation for its harsh and often dangerous conditions. As the only federal jail in New York City, it houses a diverse population, including pretrial detainees and individuals serving short sentences. However, reports from inmates, legal advocates, and federal judges highlight systemic issues such as rampant violence, severe overcrowding, inadequate medical care, and unsanitary living conditions.
Sean “Diddy” Combs remains incarcerated at the MDC Brooklyn post-trial. According to Combs’ lifelong friend, Charlucci Finney, an inmate with a makeshift shiv previously snuck into Combs’ jail cell.
“He woke up with a knife to his throat,” Finney told DailyMail.com. “I don’t know whether he fought him off or the guards came, I just know that it happened.”
Finney noted that the armed inmate likely wanted to warn Combs rather than seriously harm him.
“If this guy had wanted to harm him, Sean would have been harmed,” Finney claimed. “It would only take a second to cut his throat with a weapon and kill him. … It was probably a way to say: ‘Next time you ain’t gonna be so lucky.’ Everything is intimidation. But with Sean, it won’t work. Sean is from Harlem.”
