On June 13, 2025, Kanye “Ye” West made a surprise visit to the federal courthouse in Manhattan to show support for his longtime friend, Sean “Diddy” Combs, who was standing trial on sex trafficking and racketeering charges. Arriving in a sleek Maybach and dressed all in white with dark sunglasses, West entered through the public entrance and underwent the same security screening as anyone else. He was then escorted to an overflow room rather than the main courtroom. From there, he briefly watched the proceedings via a monitor. So, what did Combs’ lead attorney think of West arriving at the trial?

Sean “Diddy” Combs didn’t have much outside support during his federal trial. However, Kanye “Ye” West made it known via social media that he intended to support Combs no matter the outcome. West arrived at the trial unannounced and watched the proceedings in an overflow room before leaving. While he didn’t stay long, the media captured the moment West arrived to support his friend in the entertainment industry.

Combs’ lead attorney, Marc Agnifilo, spoke to CBS News’ Jericka Duncan in August 2025 about Combs’ life behind bars ahead of sentencing in October 2025. During the interview, Duncan asked Agnifilo about West’s courthouse appearance. Agnifilo admitted that he had “mixed feelings” about the event and wasn’t sure whether he wanted West in the courtroom.

“On the one hand, I think he was there to support Combs, and so I want to encourage people to support Combs,” the attorney stated. “He certainly has had a lot of people in his life in the last several years who haven’t supported him, and detracted from him, and things like that. So, I wanted him in the courtroom for that reason.”

Agnifilo noted that he felt nervous about West’s presence because of how well the trial was going. “I didn’t want to take any chances,” he continued. “That seemed like it could be a little risky. What would the jury think? Why is he there? So, I had mixed feelings about it. But, I’m happy that he came, and I’m happy that he supported Mr. Combs.”

Legal analyst Lou Shapiro spoke on The Trial of Diddy podcast about Kanye “Ye” West publicly supporting Sean “Diddy” Combs. Shapiro explained how the March 2025 leaked phone call between West and Combs showed how Combs severely lacked support from other public entertainment figures. Combs thanked West for helping care for his kids and explained how nobody reaches out to him behind bars.

“But it does show you moreover how Hollywood is really not behind Diddy, because if Kanye is the one that he’s sort of resorting to speak with, it shows you much that he’s pretty much on his own at this point, and all he’s got is Kanye in his corner,” the analyst explained, according to The Mirror US.

Do the 2 rappers want to make a music comeback together?

Sources allege that Sean “Diddy” Combs might want to make a music comeback after his legal matters are sorted. His attorney, Marc Agnifilo, stated to CBS News that the mogul might eventually hope to perform at Madison Square Garden again.

Another insider alleged that Combs hopes he and Kanye “Ye” West can make their comeback as a team. “Diddy is so grateful that Kanye stood by him — they think of each other as blood brothers now,” an insider told Globe, according to Yahoo. “They’re both convinced they can get back on top and basically rule Hollywood again together.”

Before Combs can get back to music, it seems more likely that he’s focusing on sentencing and his civil lawsuits.
