Far from fine dining. Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs is being fed “expired” food that’s infested with maggots, his lawyer Marc Agnifilo said in his latest bid to get his high-profile client released from jail.

On August 3, Agnifilo again asked Judge Arun Subramanian to release Diddy on bail ahead of his October 3 sentencing.

In his letter to the judge, Diddy’s lawyer decried conditions in Brooklyn’s notorious Metropolitan Detention Center. Diddy has has been held at the MDC since his September 2024 arrest.

“Living conditions at the MDC remain inhumane and the conditions seem unlikely to improve due to the aggressive government budget cuts,” Agnifilo claimed in the letter, which was obtained by OK!

“MDC routinely serves food that is expired or infested with maggots,” he continued, referencing a photo purportedly showing the rotten food. “The maggot-infested food captured in that photo is, unfortunately, not an uncommon experience,” he wrote.

This is not the first time MDC inmates have said they’re being served maggot-infested food. In 2024, a lawyer for a man incarcerated at the jail said he’d been served meals that weren’t fit to eat, the New York Daily News reported. The jail is infamous for its poor living conditions, inadequate staffing, power outages, and other issues, notes CNN

Agnifilo also called Subramanian’s refusal to grant Diddy bail a “draconian” response to his crimes, Page Six reports. He alleged that “the government continues to target” his client.

Unfortunately for Diddy, his lawyer’s pleas fell on deaf ears. On August 4, the judge again denied his request for bail, noting that he failed to prove that he was not at “risk of flight or danger.”

In early July, Diddy was convicted on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution. He was acquitted on more serious sex trafficking and racketeering charges. The 55-year-old rapper faces a maximum of 20 years in prison on the prostitution charges. However, he will likely serve far less time.

Diddy’s lawyer said food was the ‘roughest’ part of jail for the rapper

This is not the first time that Diddy and his lawyers have voiced objections to the conditions and the food at MDC

“I think the food’s probably the roughest part of it,” Agnifilo told The New York Post not long after his arrest last year.

Food Diddy might have been served during his time behind bars includes Swedish meatballs, chicken alfredo, scrambled eggs, meatloaf, hotdogs, and breaded fish sandwiches, according to a menu from the Federal Bureau of Prisons.

Nor is Diddy the only high-profile MDC inmate to complain about the food at the facility. Sex trafficker Ghislaine Maxwell was held in the jail during her trial. She said there were rats and the food was inedible.

“I have not had a nutritious meal … They feed me rotten food,” she told The Daily Mail in 2021.  “One apple had maggots in it.”
