Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck ended their marriage in 2018, but they always maintained a close co-parenting relationship for their three children. So when their oldest daughter needed them, mom and dad both came to the rescue.

On May 26, Affleck and Garner were seen assisting Violet as she made her way into an urgent care facility in Los Angeles. The 20-year-old appeared to have trouble walking and was leaning on her parents, who were at her sides helping her as she entered the building.

When Violet emerged from the medical center hours later, she was on crutches and wearing an orthopedic boot on her foot. Violet’s appearance with Affleck and Garner comes just two weeks after she was seen during a family outing while home from college without a face mask, which she often wears.

So why does Violet usually wear a facemask in public?

The eldest of Garner and Affleck’s children has been seen wearing a mask ever since she contracted a post-viral condition in 2019. She has become an advocate for mask use and public health protections.

In July 2024, Violet addressed the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors to advocate for mask access and stronger health protections, while also speaking publicly about her medical condition.

She also spoke at a United Nations event advocating for indoor air quality and urging leaders to normalize the use of masks and clean air technology to prevent the spread of airborne diseases.

Post-viral conditions associated with COVID-19 are often referred to as “long COVID.” Some common symptoms include fatigue, shortness of breath, muscle aches, difficulty concentrating, and joint pain.
